Share a bit about your background and what your current role within Otis is.
“As a transfer and commuter student, it was difficult for me to build a connection with UConn. One day, as I was casually scrolling my student email inbox, I saw the opening for the Communication Specialist role in Marketing Today! Taking the Communication Specialist role really changed my life at UConn. Since I was a Marketing Student, I got to work with faculty and staff on a professional level instead of just as a student. Having the opportunity to work with the faculty on that level, has built up my confidence when dealing with key decision makers in sales. It was through that role that Professor Bill Ryan had approached me about re-starting a Sales based student club when he noticed my interest in a sales career. From that conversation, Professional Sales Society was born and is still active to this day. It really was an honor and privilege to have Professor Ryan trust me to be the President and founding member of PSS, and I’m so proud of the community we were able to lay the foundation for. Last thing to add here is that I also got my current role at Otis through the Communication Specialist role. One of our responsibilities is to organize the Professional Sales Leadership Networking Event. I was working the event, taking pictures for the newsletter and social media, when I struck up a conversation with the Otis recruiter. She called me the next day for an interview, and the rest is history!
You interned with Otis as a Sales Intern, what was that experience like?
I did an internship with Otis the summer of 2023 before I graduated, which led to the Sales Trainee program until I was placed as a Repair Sales Associate in the Hartford office. I then became an Account Manager at the beginning of 2025 and was recently promoted to a Senior Associate Account Manager. What really stood out to me at that time were the people. I got to meet so many people in the organization from all different departments and from all over the country. They brought the entire Eastern Region internship class to Atlanta, GA and I got to meet my peers. It was so impactful to make those connections early on in my journey with Otis. I keep in contact with many of them, and it is so fun to watch everyone’s career journeys – whether it be with Otis or elsewhere. Another piece of advice – get into LinkedIn! It is a great networking tool! I also had the opportunity to internship in the office I know I wanted to be full-time in, so I was able to build my network within that community, as well. I have found not only mentors but great friendships that way.”
How would you describe the company culture at Otis?
“I enjoy how dynamic the role is and I enjoy the people I work with. My day to day at Otis is never the same. One day could be an office day where I am going through my email requests, and sending out proposals, and calling customers. Another day I may be in the field with a hard hat and work boots on traveling around the state with a mechanic to survey elevator unit. Most days, it is a mix of the two. I said this in one of my last answers too but the people at Otis are also so great which really helps with the day to day. I am the Employee Engagement Counsel Chair for our office and get to plan fun events for our team and community service events to give back. Most recently, we organized an outing to the BIG E with the Hartford, Stamford, and Springfield offices!”
