Kennett Collaborative’s Light Up the Square tree lights and lighted garlands will create a magical setting for the annual Tinsel on the Town holiday shopping event on Friday, December 10, from 4pm to 9pm.
This family-friendly evening offers something for all ages—including Santa and Mrs. Claus, a town-wide holiday bingo game, s’mores, and a DJ playing holiday tunes. In addition to all of the shops and boutiques on State and Union Streets, there will also be pop-up market vendors selling handmade gifts and holiday décor as well as local beer and wine. And restaurants are taking reservations for window-side seats to all of the festivities.
It was so much fun to see Casa Guanajuato, Kennett Heritage Center, and the new Kennett Library director in the parade, as well as all the brilliantly lit vehicles such as this one from Blittersdorf's. Thank you to all who made it happen and to all who braved the cold to support the parade!
Marché will host nationally acclaimed artist Kelly O’Neal and an exclusive exhibition of his paintings next weekend, December 3–5.
The weekend starts off a reception with the artist on Friday, December 3 from 4 to 8 pm and the exhibition, which showcases over 60 works selected by the artist himself, will run all weekend. Read more here.
Although we had to take down the parklet this week, we're working on a plan to relocate it more permanently—we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, here are some fun parklet memories shared by different community members . . .
Thank you to everyone who shared their parklet photos and to all who supported Kennett Blooms this year! If you have parklet stories or photos you'd like to share, we'd love to see them—please email them to us!
While the parklet came down, with the help of Public Works we put up the lighted garlands and the town tree this week! Thank you to all who have already supported Light Up the Square to make our town festive and bright for the holiday season and the winter months ahead. If you'd like to join them, you can do so here. You can also donate in honor or in memory of a loved one.
Thank you for reading, for your community engagement throughout the year, and for continuing to support local businesses and events as we head into the holiday season and Small Business Saturday today.
