AND…we have FINALLY escaped from our long hot summer and are officially Back On The Road Again!!!

We haven’t been on the road for long, but I can show you this cool picnic spot on the Sacramento River in the historic town of Dunsmuir, California.

And while we were eating, a passing hiker asked us for directions to Hedge Creek waterfall. Hmm…you know how much I like waterfalls. Intrigued, we made that our next stop. I do love me some waterfalls and this was one we could walk under.

Luckily, we were camping nearby at the Jubilee Railroad Wilderness Lodge, sleeping under tall pines with a great view of Castle Crags. Paul got a kick out of all the restored railcars, and the dining car was a fun surprise. We enjoyed a great dinner after our day of hiking. We had hoped to make it to the summit of the Crags, but the State Park was closed due to a nearby wildfire. Still, we managed to find some great hiking spots and racked up a lot of steps.😉

We’re hoping California’s fire season is over by the time we get back. This is what our air quality looked like the day we left.
