Hi everyone,
Very many congratulations to all those who completed their courses at the Belfast Summer School. Your certificates will be on their way to you very soon. This year, 112 students enrolled in Latin and Greek. The Summer School has become a truly international event with students hailing from the the UK and Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Czechia, Romania, Albania, Greece, Canada and the USA. The tutors and myself are so inspired by our students' ethusiasm for the ancient world.
If you are interested in building on your learning from the Summer School, or have been missing your weekly lessons, language classes in the autumn are now open for registration. To complement the language courses, we are offering short six-week courses on a range of topics related to the ancient Mediterranean world - see below for the full list.
Today's picture from the ancient world is the Terracotta Panathenaic prize amphoraca which has been dated to 530 B.C., and is attributed to the Eupiletos Painter. This piece can be seen in The Met Fifth Avenue.
