PERMANENT SUBCOMMITTEE ON INVESTIGATIONS REPORT CRITICAL OF DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS); SAYS DHS MAY BE ACTING ILLEGALLY AND VIOLATING AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES!
Guys this is REALLY important news that was recently brought to my attention. There is a document, that were published nearly 10 years ago in 2012 after a two-year investigation by a congressional subcommittee called the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
They were investigating the reporting methods and accuracy of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in relation to the Fusion Centers. What they found was quite shocking for them as they realized that during this time this department had contributed nothing in terms of actionable intelligence in relation to terrorist activities. However what they did find was that DHS spent lots of time and money investigating and reporting on citizen activities that were totally unrelated to their mission!
They also were found to be purchasing items such as sport utility vehicles and cellphone tracking devices and other surveillance equipment while as the report noted they were " not to do active or covert collection of intelligence."
This report is huge for us because the FISA court has recently found similar discrepancies where the FBI was found to be misrepresenting facts submitted to the court on an individual, Carter Page for whom they were requesting permission from the Court to investigate.
The FISA Court somehow determined that there were discrepancies and omissions (lies) on the application and noted their duty to protect American citizens from fourth amendment violations by the intelligence agencies in a scathing letter to the FBI.
In other words, those suing the government for covert harassment have received important documented proof from these two government reports - plus the Church Committee reports which also made similar complaints about intelligence agencies conducting endless investigations on Americans with no probable cause of having committed a crime.
What this means for us is that due to these recent government reports, unwarranted government surveillance on innocent American citizens can now be much more easily proven.
