Have you heard of "Jolabokaflod"? It's an Icelandic Christmas tradition, roughly translated as "Christmas book flood."
It started during world war II, when paper was one of the few things not rationed during the war effort. Christmas was coming, and people gave pretty much the one thing they could: books. And what happened was magical: everyone settled down together around the hearth, wrapped themselves in cozy blankets, poured some hot chocolate, and started to read.
ALL NIGHT!
That's right. A communal reprieve from the horrors of the war through story.
Isn't that exactly what we need right now in our crazy time?
So... I'm here to provide :)
Next week, I'm launching a new Kickstarter for a new, extra special edition of The Son of the Deathless.
Yes, you've received the ebook already, but it doesn't yet exist in physical form. You'll be the first to get it!
If you join our new Kickstarter, you'll get one of only two hundred and fifty gorgeous special edition hardcover books, illustrated by award winning artist Vesper Stamper and designed by Heather Pollington, a Hollywood art director and set designer who's done work on Hellboy 2, Maleficent, and even the Rings of Power! Cool, right?
But that's not all. The books will be wrapped and ready to gift, not in wrapping paper, but in a specially designed canvas fantasy map, sealed in real wax with a stamp specially crafted for this holiday season.
Just add hot chocolate and a warm reading nook, and you're ready to go!
Keep an eye out for an email from me next week with the link!
In the Meantime...
Here are some stories to tide you over until November 8, when I'll announce the launch of the Kickstarter.
And thank you all, as always, for coming along with me for my writerly adventures!
~Nicky
P.S. Keep an eye out for an email announcing the Kickstarter launch!
