I can’t believe it’s almost RELEASE DAY (May 19) for MEET ME IN MONTANA! To celebrate this book’s “BIRTHDAY,” I was invited to host a Tule Book Club Author Drop-In. (This is open to everyone, but you have to join the Tule Book Club page on Facebook.) I did this for the first time in March when Montana Blueprint for Love came out. Such a blast—and some pretty cool prizes, I think. This time my prizes reflect my commitment to SMALL BUSINESSES—in this case: women owners (like my heroine, Amber McCall).

PS: If you’re like me and you love seeing a book you intended to buy suddenly appear in your e-reader, then, please, feel free to PRE-ORDER MEET ME IN MONTANA: HERE

The lakes in California officially opened a week ago, so we packed up the RV and headed to Lake McSwain.

The spring breeze on the water was crisp and cool, but did that stop the granddaughters from jumping into the water? Of course, not. It did, however, stop me. 😉

There weren’t many people near us, but we biked past some areas that had more folks—all doing a pretty good job of social distancing. Just being outside—somewhere other than our own back yard—felt pretty life affirming. Plus, it was great to spend R&R time with our son and daughter and grandchildren.

And, just because it made me laugh…here’s my favorite sign ever. Doesn’t it beg the question…Why?

Last week’s Q&A was: Masks. When you go out in public do you wear one? Y or N?

Wonderful and encouraging feedback on this. Nearly every one of you who replied, said, “Yes. Even if I don’t love wearing a mask, I do it.”

Me, too. I’ve cut back shopping to our local grocery store every two weeks. I go early to take advantage of ‘senior hours,’ and I still wear gloves and a mask. I do this for my peace of mind.

But my N-95 mask is a little restrictive, so, thanks to a suggestion from Elizabeth, I was able to buy a “pretty” mask from Castle Creations on Etsy.

I also really liked Kati’s suggestion for making a shield. Super easy to make and very easy to clean. She even sent photos!

My two randomly selected winners this week are:

Eileen Cordova – Yes
and
Karen Steele – Yes

(Eileen and Karen congrats. Please email me your pick of either a $5 Starbucks or a $5 Amazon gift card.)

Q&A

This week’s Q&A: Do you take photos on your phone? Yes or No.

I’m a Yes, but I didn’t realize how much I miss a 35MM camera until my old friend Bob sent me a “moon shot” from his new Canon. (below)

(Two winners will be chosen by random drawing to receive either a $5 Starbucks gift card or a $5 Amazon gift card. Please reply the usual ways: email or on my DebraSalonenAuthor Facebook page.)

NEXT WEEK I ANNOUNCE THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER: Are you that lucky person?

(Prize includes a tool pouch like the ones worn by the McCall sisters in the series, various hand tools including a hammer, tape measurer, adaptable screw driver, utility knife, gloves, carpenter’s pencil, marking pen and MORE. Additionally, there will be a $25 Gift Card TBD [I originally thought Lowes or Home Depot, but I will let the winner choose—Amazon is also an option.] Winning name will be announced in my newsletter. If winner fails to contact me within a week from announcement [Thursday-Thursday], an alternate name will be drawn until we have a winner.)

Stay well, my friends!

Happy reading,

Deb

Next week: Corvair update (POSTPONED a week, sorry) and some Mother’s Day splendor.
