Using Virtual Reality to Enhance the Language Learning Experience

MLTAV is offering language teachers an afternoon of multilingual VR time travel and networking with colleagues while trialling a potential excursion for senior students.

Virtual Room in West Melbourne offers an immersive VR adventure where players work together in different environments, communicate and problem-solve to save the world. Their Time Travel Chapter 1 experience is available in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Mandarin, Arabic, Greek, German and English.

During our event, you will don a VR headset to experience Time Travel Chapter 1 in your choice of the 9 available languages. There will also be time for networking with your language teaching colleagues and discussion about curriculum links for your language and suitable pre- and post- excursion activities.

Date: Saturday 28 October, 1-3pm

Venue: 75 Peel Street, West Melbourne (opposite Queen Victoria Market)

Cost: $25 for MLTAV members, $45 for non-members (for VR experience, networking and discussion and light refreshments.

CLIL in Action

Venue: Footscray Primary School, 100 Geelong Rd Footscray

This in-school workshop will provide you with opportunities to:

• Observe CLIL classes in action
• Understand how CLIL can be effective for engaging and motivating learners (and teachers!)
• Explore key principles which underpin quality CLIL teaching
• Build your confidence to implement strong CLIL strategies with students
• Collaborate with other Languages teachers to explore the possibilities and practicalities of CLIL
