I'm right handed, although one of my brothers is left handed. Which are you?
According to Wikipedia about 10% of the population of the United Kingdom uses their left hand to write. Left handers tend to have an advantage in a number of sports including boxing, fencing, tennis and cricket - probably because they are used to competing against right handers, but right handers aren't nearly as used to competing against left handers. Many left handers have learnt to do things with their right hands because it's just easier in our right handed world. And then, of course, there are those who are ambidextrous and can use either hand with equal ease!
It's not mentioned specifically anywhere in my books because the subject doesn't arise, but Leonie is definitely left handed. Her handwriting is pretty awful, but that's mostly because she hasn't had any real need to write things down until she gets to House St Peter. Once she starts to work at it, and her teachers understand that she's left handed, her writing improves rapidly. Perry, on the other hand (joke intended) is right handed and has terrible handwriting too, unless he really concentrates. That's mostly because his hand just can't keep up with his thoughts and what he's trying to write down.
