Welcome to our March newsletter, where we feature events for adults 18 or 21+ that you might consider for a date night, girls' night or any other reason to head out sans children.

Champaign-Urbana has a TON of adult-friendly, outside-the-box ideas that are happening THIS month, so that you can book a babysitter, make reservations and plan a grownup night out weeks in advance. Some ideas are free (yeah!); others might be more of a splurge, and there is something for everyone.

Piano Man returns to The Canopy Club for the first time in over a decade, with Andrew Simek behind the keys! Join the legacy every Monday night at 8 p.m. to come sing and dance under the Canopy as the Piano Man plays classics and modern hits for you to kick off the week. $3 Long Island Iced Tea drink special.

Date night ideas coming up this month in Champaign-Urbana

Purim Drag Show at The Canopy Club: Join the Queer community, allies, your Jewish friends and more on March 5 for a drag-inspired retelling of the Purim story. (Purim is a joyous holiday that affirms and celebrates Jewish survival and continuity throughout history.) Tickets are cheaper if purchased in advance. Find info here. For ages 18 and up.

Flower arranging at The Literary: This is a great mashup of two local businesses, The Lit and A. Hunt Design. Join Andrea of A. Hunt Design from 5:30-7 p.m. on March 8 to learn how to create a funky floral design while treating yourself to a drink and a snack. The flowers and vase are yours to take home afterward.

Wines of the World: Head to Allerton Park in Monticello for wine class. Yes, wine! It wouldn't be wine class without tastings, and this course is no different. Classes are March 12 and/or March 26, but we're particularly interested in the March 26 class, titled "Oregon and Washington -- exploring American winemakers outside of California." Cost is $60 per person, which includes the wine, of course.

Aris Quartet with Jupiter String Quartet: Whether you’re hearing Octet for the first time or it has the status of an old friend, a rare treat is in store when Krannert's own Jupiter Quartet meets the dynamic Aris Quartet onstage for the first time to present the Mendelssohn masterwork.Get your tickets for March 13 at 7:30 p.m. 

St. Patrick's Party at Cowboy Monkey: Local favorite 90s Daughter will be decked out in green for this March 15 performance at Champaign's Cowboy Monkey. From 8-11 p.m. No cover.

Gabriel Iglesias at State Farm Center: Who doesn't need a reason to laugh right now? Iglesias' comedy is billed as "a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life." Tickets start at $33.50 for the March 16 show.

True Crime Trivia Night: We know you true crime fans out there love some trivia. No one is judging here! Head to Yellow and Co. in Mahomet on March 20 for the free contest.

Phish and Allman Brothers Tribute live at the Rose Bowl Tavern: Calling all of our Phish-loving friends -- you know who you are. This March 21 event, dubbed Birds of a Feather, features veteran musicians deep diving into the magic and complexity of the Phish and Allman Brothers songbooks. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

Assassins at The Station Theatre: This Tony-winning musical explores the lives of nine men and women who either killed (or tried to kill) one of the presidents of the United States. It runs from March 28 through mid-April, with $10 tickets on Opening Night. Tickets will go quickly!

Dinner and a show at Baldarotta's: Dinner and a show for $40 per person, count us in! Go inside Baldarotta's at its new location on March 29 for a night of stand-up comedy. Dinner will be buffet-style with all the Baldarotta's Italian classics.
