Revaluing indigenous knowledge to promote men’s wellbeing: insights from qualitative and intervention research in Guatemala

The PRAM team unites monthly to provide project updates, present research protocols, practice dissertations defences, and more.

This month, PhD candidate Katherine Pizarro presented her doctoral these to the PRAM group for feedback in preparation for her upcoming oral defence. Katherine spoke of her work in Guatemala exploring factors that impact men's wellbeing and mental health in Indigenous communities. We wish her luck as she completes this final step of her PhD!

Engaging men to improve reproductive health: experience in Bauchi State, Nigeria

Dr Anne Cockcroft will be presenting her ongoing work in Bauchi State, Nigeria, to explore men's engagement in reproductive health and its associations to maternal health. 

Dr Cockcroft will speak about the research team's universal home visits in participating communities, where through sharing of local evidence with both pregnant women and their spouses led to better maternal and child health outcomes, and fostered changes in men's knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours.

Workshop Description: In this virtual, half day workshop, PRAM team presenters will share innovative approaches to engaging patients and other stakeholders around issues that are important to them, particularly those historically excluded from planning and decision-making. Each workshop objective will begin by sharing relevant theoretical and methodological foundations, followed by practice examples from team members' experiences applying these methods in over 11 countries and 19 projects.
