Pray for Morocco
Let us unite our prayers for the people of Morocco who are suffering from the devastating earthquakes. May they experience the Lord's comfort and care during this time of great loss.
For those who have died: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

A devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, approximately 72 kilometers southwest of Marrakesh. The disaster resulted in more than 1,037 fatalities and over 670 injuries, with over 200 of these individuals critically wounded. Subsequent media reports have indicated that the death toll has exceeded 2,000 and is expected to rise significantly.
Pope Francis expressed deep solidarity with those affected by the tragedy, praying for the deceased, the injured, and those mourning the loss of loved ones and homes.
The people of Morocco are now in dire need of assistance. Donations can be made through Development & Peace - Caritas Canada.

Breakfast with the Bishop |
The Breakfast with the Bishop event held last Saturday, Sep. 9 was a joyful celebration that brought together the Indigenous nations and the people of the Diocese. The delightful occasion was marked by a hearty breakfast served by the God Squad Canada, beautiful music and art showcase from our indigenous artists, and profound stories and reflections shared by the elders and Bishop William McGrattan.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Denis Grady and the Franciscans & Friends for organizing such a remarkable event, which not only showcased the beauty of our community but also fostered our friendship and connections.

Pope Francis: "Today (Sep. 10) in Markowa, Poland, the martyrs Józef and Wiktoria Ulma, with their seven children, were beatified: an entire family exterminated by the Nazis on 24 March 1944 for having given shelter to some persecuted Jews. They opposed the hatred and violence that characterized that time with evangelical love. May this Polish family, which represents a ray of light in the darkness of the Second World War, be for all of us a model to imitate in the zeal for goodness and service to those in need. A round of applause for this family of Blesseds!" Read more

POPE'S PRAYER INTENTION |
+ |
Each year, the Holy Father asks for our prayers for a specific intention each month. You are invited to answer the Holy Father's request and to join with many people worldwide in praying for this intention each month. From time to time, the Holy Father may add a second prayer intention related to current events or urgent needs, like disaster relief. The second prayer request will help mobilize prayer and action related to the urgent situation.
