In 2023, UPenn student and MCS public research intern, Maria Villarreal Simon, started recording short interviews with other students about their personal experiences of climate change. She then launched a TikTok channel to share these perspectives. This project became the spark that inspired recruiting Correspondents from other cities and universities to collect stories from a broader variety of experiences.

Maria recently sat down with fellow MCS intern, Faith Bochert, to delve into the origins of the project and their aspirations for its future. You can catch the entire conversation on our website now!

Between now and June 2024, our twelve MCS Campus Correspondents, hailing from diverse hometowns and engaged in fields of study ranging from environmental studies to engineering to journalism, will each be creating a series of video interviews. These collections will highlight the climate stories from their respective campus communities.
