On November 11, 1918, the eleventh day of the eleventh month at the eleventh hour of that day, Germany signed an armistice with the Allies. An armistice is a temporary suspension of hostilities by agreement of warring parties. This agreement marked the ending of World War I. On November 11, 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Armistice Day in honor of World War I Veterans. In 1938, Armistice Day became a National Holiday and New York City, San Diego, CA and Dallas, TX celebrated the day with parades.
In 1953, November 11, the citizens of Emporia, Kansas observed the first Veterans Day led by Alvin King to recognized not only World War I Veterans but all Veterans.
In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed the Bill from Congress to change the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day honoring all Veterans.
There are 17.4 million Veterans in the United States, according to the most recent statistics from the US Census. The VA projected that 8.5 million veterans over the age of 65 were living in 2010 and 8.2 million now remain.
The United States Armed Forces are composed of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. The Army National Guard and the Air National Guard are reserve components of their services and operate in part under state authority.
During this celebration of Veterans Day, we salute and thank the members of the Pleasant Green Family who along with others served and presently serve in the United States Armed Forces. God Bless Our Veterans and their families and we must remember with reverence those Armed Force members who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for the Freedom that we enjoy!

Today's Bible Study Lesson
“Praise for God’s Eternal Reign”
Aim: Define
the
nature of God’s reign for eternity;
Reflect
on
how God’s eternal reign affects our faith; and Engage
in
activities that reflect the sovereignty of God in healthy, powerful,
and transforming ways.
Background:
Revelation 11
Bible Lesson:
Revelation 11:15-19
Memory
Verse:
“… The kingdoms of this world are become [the
kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever
and ever.” Revelation 11:15b KJV
Some
Highlights:
-
In
Revelations, John, who is exiled on the Isle of Patmos for preaching
the Gospel, experiences several visions and is compelled to record
them. His
visions
includes
the opening of seven seals on
a scroll
which
only
the
Lamb of God was worthy to open. Then
there were
seven angels with seven trumpets. Cataclysmic events occurred after
the removal of each seal and at the sounding of each trumpet.
Usually,
the
sound of a trumpet
was a call to arms in battle and signaled the beginning of troop
deployment. Our lesson opens after an
angel sounds
the seventh trumpet.
-
The
sounding
of the seventh
trumpet by an angel
announced
the Kingdom of the Lord and His Christ taking
rule over the world. Voices
in heaven acknowledged with a loud roar that the world was now under
the rule of our Lord and His Christ for ever and ever!
-
The
twenty four elders, who were seated around the throne of God, rose
from their seats and threw themselves face down on the ground before
the throne and worshipped God Almighty. They gave thanks to God for
His Goodness and Mercy and
acknowledged
His eternal existence, He is, was and will be and His Power is
unequalled. The sounding of the seventh trumpet announced the
beginning of His Eternal Reign.
-
The
time had come for God’s righteous judgement of the nations who had
dealt so cruelly with the less fortunate, the widows and
orphans and who
had oppressed
those in low estate. The nations were angry for they realize that
the righteous wrath of God was at their door and
about
to be administered.
At same time, God was rewarding His servants, prophets, people who
had sought to be righteous, along
with
those great and small who revered and respected the Name of the
Lord. For these, this was a joyous occasion. However, for those that
had vigorously destroyed the spirits and the reputations of those
who sought after righteousness, it was the time of retribution for
their evil deeds. Vindication had come for those who had been
persecuted and who
had
lost their lives for righteousness sake.
-
The
vision switches now to a view of the heavenly Temple of God. The
earthly representation of the Temple which was dedicated for
sacrifices and for the worship of God restricted access to only
the priests. Access
to the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant was located was
restricted to the high priest only once a year. The Ark of the
Covenant in the Holy of Holies represented the presence of the
Almighty God. In John’s vision he was granted
unobstructed view into the most restricted areas in God’s heavenly
Temple. Such a privilege resulted in nature’s spontaneous reaction
which
included
flashing lightning, thunder crashing and roaring, an earthquake, and
a terrible hailstorm.
-
The
Eternal Reign of God brought about praise, thanksgiving, and worship
because
now the Righteous King had taken control for all time!
Take
Aways:
-
A
day of
reckoning is coming when the wicked will be justly judged.
-
Rewards
will be given to the those who have been faithful and who
have sought
God’s Righteousness.
-
The
Kingdom of God will come to earth in
God’s
own
time
and God Almighty
will
rule for ever and ever!
Bible
Verses to Keep in Mind:
“For
it is written: "[As] I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow
to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God." 12 So then each
of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:11-12 NKJV
“I
charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who
shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”
2 Timothy 4:1 KJV
“For
we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will
recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his
people.” Hebrews 10:30 KJV
“And
they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and
true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on
the earth?” Revelation 6:10 KJV
“And
I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were
opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and
the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the
books, according to their works.” Revelation 20:12 KJV
“And
the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell
delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every
man according to their works.” Rev elation20:13 KJV
