10 pangolins were seized in Quang Ninh province

On the 24th of July 2019, SVW received a notice from the police department of Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province to come rescue 10 Sunda Pangolins (Manis javanica). The RRT travelled for 8 hours during the night to the rescue location, but unfortunately, 3 of the 10 pangolins died before the team arrived, the remaining seven ones were transferred to our rescue center in Cuc Phuong the day after. The animals are now receiving medical treatment and care at the quarantine enclosures.

Police of Ha Tinh province confiscated 32 Sunda pangolins from 2 illegal wildlife cases

The policeman of Ha Tinh Province discovered these two individuals in cloth bags on Highway 8A, along with two suspects who just moved from Laos via Cau Treo border gateway but did not go through immigration procedures. After that, the Police Department of Ha Tinh Province transferred the case with the suspects to the Police Department of Huong Son District for further investigation. 

On 1sth July, our Team safely transferred two Sunda pangolins to our rescue center.

30 Sunda pangolins confiscated at Huong Son, Ha Tinh

30 Sunda pangolins were confiscated by the police of Huong Son District during transport by passenger car from Cau Treo border gate to Huong Son, Ha Tinh Province. Sadly, four pangolins died before the rescue team arrived. The alive pangolins were in poor condition and dehydrated. Our team is woking hard to help them recover.

After the completion of the Naturalistic Pre-release area with the area of 1500m2, a number of animals that requires a lot of time to recover and gain back their natural instincts have been transferred to this area with the goal being trained, and later on, assessed on their natural behaviours. The animals have shown keen interest and positive activeness in this new enclosure.

National consulting workshop on wildlife conservation education materials

Ho Chi Minh City - July 18, Ngan and Nga participated in the National consulting workshop on wildlife conservation education materials for primary students. The team contributed ideas, pangolin photos and videos to enrich the materials, raise understanding of two Vietnamese Pangolin species. This is also an opportunity to learn experiences about compiling education materials and implementing national education projects.
