Chapter Four
“You were great with them,” Michael said a couple of hours later, once they were back in the office and the door was closed. “I think I would freak with everyone talking at me all at once.”
“This was nothing. A couple dozen kids here versus hundreds in the park. There’s no comparison.”
Jake took off the goggles and rubbed at his eyes.
“Here, let me unzip you.” Michael stepped behind Jake and slid the zipper down to his waist.
“Thanks.”
“You impressed Gerard. When you took your break, he told me you really knew your E-Force stuff. ”
“That was epic. We should’ve made it into a game. They had some crazy specific questions, especially Gerard. Usually I get superficial questions at parties, but this was like a masterclass. He’s got cool friends. I wish I’d had a gang like that when I was his age. I was the lone E-force geek among my friends.”
“Do you have to know all that to work in the park?”
Jake sat down to take off the boots. “No. There are basic facts you have to know to be a character. They went well beyond that. I think at first they were trying to trip me up, and then it was more like they wanted to see how much I knew.”
After storing the boots in the duffel, Jake stood and couldn’t resist Michael looking so good against the door. Before he could talk himself out of it, he took the couple of steps to close the distance between them.
He planted a kiss on Michael’s lips.
Michael wrapped an arm around Jake and pulled him closer. That prompted Jake to slip his tongue into Michael’s mouth and lean into him.
As usual, Michael wore shorts. During the party, Jake got distracted checking out his ass when he went under a table to retrieve something for Gerard. With Michael grinding against Jake, the shorts did nothing to mask the hard-on that bumped against Jake’s hip.
“Fuck.” Jake spoke quietly and stretched out the word as he reached down and tried to adjust himself through the suit.
“Sorry.” Michael winced.
“I should’ve known better.” Jake tried to keep his eyes on Michael’s, but he couldn’t resist looking down at the distinct tent in Michael’s shorts.
Michael’s faced tinged the slightest red as his eyes darted around the room for a moment. He slipped a hand into his pocket and shifted his dick trying to make it less obvious.
“If I’m this hard, I can only imagine what it’s like in there.” Not helping the situation, Michael cupped Jake’s package. “You should probably change.”
“Yeah.” He didn’t move, though. He’d rather kiss some more, despite the discomfort.
“You want to come back to my place?” Michael looked hopeful, which made Jake’s heart do somersaults in his chest.
“I wish I could.” He pulled his arms out of the costume and let it drop in front of him. “I’ve got the evening shift at the park. We could, um, get together after. If you want.” Jake wrestled with the idea of playing hooky so Michael wouldn’t reconsider the invitation.
“What time do you get off?”
“Around 11.”
“I can wait it out.” Michael kissed Jake on the chin and ran his hands over Jake’s chest.
Jake didn’t know how to respond. Michael was going to wait?
“Cool.” And of course he couldn’t think of anything better to say than that. He caught the time on the clock over the door, and that kicked him into action. “I’ve really got to get going.”
Still, neither of them moved. Michael kept a hand on Jake’s chest.
After a moment, Jake took a step back and turned to strip out of the suit. He kept the underwear on, though. No way could he show how hard he was to Michael. His whole body heated just thinking about it. Was it possible to have a full body blush?
Moving as fast as he could, he threw on his street clothes and packed away the suit. He finished by putting an E-Force ball cap on.
Michael had kept his place by the door, and had a huge grin across his face.
“What?” Jake asked.
“You have no idea how incredibly hot you are, do you?”
“I’m just me, man.”
“It’s an amazing transformation. You put on those baggy cargo shorts and the black T-shirt that’s at least a size too big, and you’re hidden away.” Michael came forward and planted kisses on Jake. “You’re shaking.”
“I’m… I’m… um… not used to this.”
“Just a minute ago, you had me pinned.” He softly kissed Jake’s lips again.
“I really have to…” Jake gestured toward the door. He gave Michael a quick kiss before stepping past him and slipping out.
“Jake?”
The question in Michael’s voice stopped him. He looked over his shoulder at Michael.
“I’ll see you later.”
Jake’s body relaxed. He nodded. “Yeah.”
“Now go so you don’t get in trouble with whoever is in charge of E-Force.”
“That would be Thunder Force. And, no, I wouldn’t want to cross him.”
Jake’s thoughts were a swirling mess as he drove to WonderWorld. He’d made out with Michael Hammond. Michael wanted to see him later. What was happening? It made no sense? Was it just the Fire Force facade that had him asking Jake over?
“Damn it.” Jake dropped his head on to the steering wheel once he’d parked. They hadn’t traded info again.
With no time to do anything about that, Jake grabbed the duffel bag and headed toward the employee entrance.
