How are you? 

After Labor Day Weekend, people usually ask, "DID YOU HAVE A GOOD SUMMER?" With the pandemic, this has been a different summer for all of us. Plans like summers past...gone.

And, when this picture popped up on my social media timeline of my Martha's Vineyard vacation a few years ago - I almost got sad and disappointed. , and just as the tears started rolling down my face - I decided to TAKE CHARGE and FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE.

First I decided to CHERISH and SAVOR the memories of the past and BE GRATEFUL that I had them. I started to LOOK FOR THE GOOD that did happen this summer - Like the drive-by visits from my family - The fun with everyone during my Rock the Mic Virtual Workshops - and that I finally finished my latest book (details to come).  Now more than ever - we have to MASTER OUR MINDSET.  I've put together some COOL TIPS for you in this Newsletter along with other helpful techniques to keep in mind. SAVOR:  There was a study of some “90-somethings” who said that if they had any regrets in life, it would be not savoring more their moments with loved ones. That being said, most indicated that, as they age, they started to learn THE POWER OF APPRECIATING and SAVORING of their moments for what they are.

Psychologist Fred Bryant suggests savoring is like “swishing an experience around in your mind.” He says GET ABSORBED in the moment and remember it using all of your senses to truly capture that experience. Don’t just take a selfie photo - take a mental and emotional snapshot, capturing that moment. Plus, SHARE memories with others (while you’re experiencing them, or in stories later). Studies show that even thinking about sharing the experience can boost your Happiness. It doesn’t take much, but the impact is great.

MAKING IT HAPPEN

HAPPINESS DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN. We have to take charge and make Happiness a priority in our lives. A Major New STUDY emphasizes the urgency - citing that depression is 3 times greater now than before the pandemic. Researchers say it's a widespread traumatic effect far worse than 9-11.  That's why it's more important than ever to TAKE CHARGE to LIVE HAPPIER. REMOTE LEARNING . . .

...has taken on a whole new meaning these days with millions of students - teachers - families having been forced into online learning.  It's starting out as a school year like never before. But there are already lessons to learn to better handle online and hybrid classes. CLICK THE PIC for more. 

CAN YOUR SIGN DETERMINE YOUR HAPPINESS?

THIS MIGHT BE CONTROVERSIAL???

Well, we can at least agree that Happiness isn't one-size-fits-all and that it looks different for everyone.  Though apparently, it may even be different for each ZODIAC SIGN. For example, certain signs are reportedly happiest with they're surrounded by loved ones, while others thrive when they're alone. TRY the "1-A WEEK HAPPY CHALLENGE."

     Make it a point each week to purposely incorporate something into your everyday life that makes you HAPPY.  Whether it's Dancing, Gardening, Reading, Listening to Music, Talking to Others, or Taking a Class.  It's about being Serious about our Happiness.

RE-DESIGNING YOUR DIET

We all might find ourselves STRESS EATING from time to time. We might reach for COMFORT FOODS or SWEETS. But, once the sugar high wears off we wonder, WAS IT REALLY WORTH IT?  However, certain foods have the power to ease anxiety and fight depression in a HEALTHY WAY. From AVOCADO TOAST (one of my faves) to SWEET POTATO FRIES (i love sweet potatoes!).  And, YES, even CHOCOLATE!  For some more ideas...CLICK THE PIC - these look like some GREAT RECIPES to try.

HAVE YOU BEEN WAITING FOR IT TOO? My sister didn't think I'd watch it. She knows that I don't usually care for anything that involves guns and violence. (It probably stems from my being a Street Reporter - I've witnessed some real-life crazy stuff).  But, when it comes to Great Acting - I can put that aside to watch POWER.  It is a powerful series - and like so many people - I've been waiting for it's second act.  Buckle Up!
