When I moved to Kennett two years ago, I chose this town because it felt so much like home even though I didn’t grow up here. The community is welcoming, the landscape is inspiring, and the history is fascinating. But what really makes this place so special is the people. Their pride in their community imbues it with so much personality.
As the new Executive Director of Kennett Collaborative, I would love to share with you my vision for Kennett as the cultural center of the Brandywine Valley and a place where all can belong and prosper. Even more, I would love to hear your vision for Kennett, and then I’d like to work with you to make that happen.
The community we will continue to build together depends on all of you. Each of our programs—from Third Thursdays on State Street to the Kennett Square Holiday Village Market—are made possible because of your generous donations, volunteer hours, and participation.
In addition to fantastic beer from over 60 breweries, Winterfest 2023 will feature live music, food trucks, and plenty of warm community spirit.
Kennett Winterfest is a fundraising event for Kennett Collaborative, the nonprofit that helps Kennett thrive through placemaking programs and events like Third Thursdays, Kennett Blooms, the KSQ Farmers Market, Christmas in Kennett, and much more.
Swing by the market this week to pick up fresh local vegetables, mushrooms, and pasture-raised meats and eggs to add as much local goodness as possible to winter meals. You'll also find fresh breads, baked goods of all kinds, and more.
Find the Market every Friday from 3pm to 5pm in the parking area of The Creamery at 401 Birch Street, Kennett Square.
KACS’ 12th annual Empty Bowls event will take place on Friday, February 24th, for lunch, dinner, and take-out.
The Empty Bowls project is an international grassroots initiative that took root here in Kennett Square over a decade ago. It's a collective effort to raise money and awareness in the fight to end hunger and feed hope.
In just a few months, the doors will open to the new Kennett Library & Resource Center, a beautiful space that will serve our community in a myriad of ways. Anyone who would like a sneak peek at the space, including the auditorium, terrace, maker spaces, classrooms, and meeting rooms, can register for a guided tour by emailing Chris Manna.
Thanks to many generous donors, $18.2 million towards the $21.7 million goal has been raised. Click here to learn more.
Head on out to The Creamery to enjoy the Glice (Swiss-engineered, eco-friendly sustainable artificial ice) rink! It's fun for all ages—kids, teenagers, and adults will all have a blast whirling around the rink!
While it's always exciting to welcome new businesses like Lucass Boutique to Kennett Square, it's sad to say goodbye to people who have become part of the heart and soul of our community. Chef Scott Morozin created pure poetry in the Verbena BYOB kitchen as he helped elevate the local dining scene. We will miss him and wish him all the best in his next chapter. You can read some of his story in a Kennett Collaborative profile from 2019 here.
Thank you, as always, for reading and for supporting local businesses, programs, and events. We wish you a wonderful week "Around the Square"!
