Lord willing, by the time you get this letter, we’ll be on the road again. We’re making a trip back to Washington State to celebrate the life of a dear friend. Sally [Pietsch] Weinberg spent her childhood as a missionary kid in Japan. We met her at our sending church back in 2007, and she spent many years of Sundays in the nursery with Lisa. She shared godly advice and helped our family to grow closer to our Lord over the years. We know we wouldn’t be at Missionary Acres today without her encouragement and prayers.
While we’re in the Pacific Northwest, we’re taking the opportunity to share an update at three churches. We’ll be presenting in Washington, Montana, and Idaho over the next three weeks.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we travel. Our first leg of the trip started today (Tuesday, June 14th), and we hope to drive the roughly 1950 miles to WA in just two days.
A quick snapshot of our plans:
On Saturday, June 18, we will be in Chewelah, WA, for Sally’s Memorial Service.
On Sunday, June 26, we will be giving a ministry update and preaching at our sending church, Chewelah Baptist Church, during the morning service.
On Wednesday, June 29, we will be giving a ministry update at Ruby Valley Baptist Church in Montana.
On Wednesday, June 6, we will also be giving a ministry update at Pocatello Baptist Church in Idaho, and then heading back to Missouri from there.
We are also going to try and make a visit to First Baptist Church in Colville, WA, to say hello.
We would love to make many more stops, as we have lots of supporting churches and individuals in the Pacific Northwest. However, the limited time to plan this trip and the short time we will be there have made such an endeavor very difficult.
If you would like to visit with us outside of our current plans, please call Bryan at 573-282-9889, and we will do everything we can to meet up while we are there.
Missionary Acres Update
The staff at Missionary Acres has been overwhelmed this past month working on outdoor activities. Extra rain has allowed the grass and weeds to grow rampantly. And our residents who primarily help with lawnmowing are dealing with significant health issues or pain. Please pray for them!
Praise God, we had a fantastic youth group from First Baptist Church in Grafton, IL, visit last week. And wow, could those teens work! With their help, we saw a lot of mowing and weed trimming completed around the property. They also sprayed some weed killer around the dam area of the pond. In addition, one of the biggest things they helped was cleaning up some low-hanging branches throughout the property.
Ken Moon spent a couple of days — and Bryan one whole day — walking around with a typical chain saw and pole chain saw, cutting anything they could reach. The youth group followed with a tractor and trailer to pick up all downed branches. And the result is fantastic. Things are looking good again and it’s easier to walk and mow beneath the trees.
The one drawback to the clean-up project is that we discovered Bryan is highly allergic to something we were cutting. Thankfully, a little rest and some allergy medications seem to have done the trick.
We were also able to utilize the muscles of the teens in the group to move some furniture and boxes around to help the Langdons get settled in their temporary housing.
Please pray for the many building projects we have going on here at Missionary Acres. We have two major remodeling projects underway and still need to complete a new house, also under construction.
We are still looking for some work groups this summer. So if you are interested in coming to Missionary Acres to help with these or any other projects, don’t hesitate to contact us!
Tanner Family Update
There has been some additional work completed on our future home. The Lord willing, the current plan is to have the cabinets installed in the last week of June. Please pray that the gentleman who built them has safe travels as he travels down from Minnesota.
Bryan was able to complete the grouting on the tile floors. While they didn’t turn out as good as a paid professional might expect, we are pleased with the results, especially since it was his first time doing this.
Ron Hemsworth was able to get the first toilet installed this past week. That might seem small, but we have been working in the house since fall without one. This is a huge blessing to everyone working there.
There is some excellent news regarding our status as Missionary Appointees. We are getting close to full support and are working with Baptist Mid-Missions on getting officially “cleared for service” at Missionary Acres. Yes, we have been here for the past year, but officially we have been on deputation that whole time. So hopefully, our status will change very soon to Missionary instead of Missionary Appointee.
Bryan & Lisa Tanner & Family
Jayme has quickly learned the ropes in the stained glass and candle shop at college and is enjoying her summer work.
The flooring in the house is nearly complete. A bit more LVT needs installation and we need to schedule carpet installation in two rooms.
Bryan has been hanging light fixtures and installing electrical outlets and switches.
Ezra is trying to learn how to walk.
For safety on the road over the next month as we travel to WA.
For the insurance to approve the new formula the nutritionist recommended for Owen’s supplement (still waiting.)
That our family would grow closer to God and continue to grow spiritually. Bryson, our five-year-old, has been asking more questions about God, so please keep praying for him.
For salvation for our children who are not yet saved.
That God would raise our support to 100% so we can get officially cleared for service here at the Acres — we are getting so close!
For the health and strength of the dear saints here at Missionary Acres — many will be traveling over the summer months. Please pray for their safety.
Prayers as we start guardianship paperwork for Owen — he just turned 16, so there is some time before he is an adult but we know the time will go quickly.
