Jeffco’s Plant Select Demonstration Garden Wins 2020 Golden Shovel Award

Jeffco Extension’s Plant Select Demonstration Garden was awarded Plant Select's 2020 “Golden Shovel” Award at the annual meeting on August 19, 2020. The Golden Shovel Award acknowledges a Demonstration Garden partner exhibiting superior design and use of Plant Select plants, while providing excellent educational opportunities to visitors. The Jeffco Plant Select Demo garden is a dryland garden, located on the site of a former Jeffco Fairgrounds parking lot. It was created under the direction of Curtis Utley (former Horticulture Agent), and is maintained by CSU-Jeffco Extension Master Gardeners. Since its inception in 2006, the beautiful and diverse collection of resilient plants selected for the high plains and intermountain regions thrive in unimproved soil, with no fertilization and no supplemental irrigation after establishment. The garden is open M-Th, 8-5. Check us out and submit a survey!
