Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of the Interior (DOI) has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing Tribal consultations on the Tribal Electrification Program. This program was authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to provide Tribal Nations $145.5 million in federal funds to implement zero emission electrification in Tribal homes. Currently, the Energy Information Administration estimates that 14 percent of households on Tribal Lands have no access to electricity, which is 10 times higher than the national average. DOI has established three categories of Tribal participation in the program, which includes an initial pilot program and Tribal Nations with the potential to implement community scale projects.
