BlackHer Fact

According to the Urban Institue, in 2016, the average Black family had $25,212 in retirement savings.  Obviously, this is nowhere near the savings required for a comfortable retirement.

In her book, Elizabeth White urges us not to sit in silence or despair about our finances.  Instead, she encourages us to come together to innovate and envision a new financial future.

The Racist Roots of the Pro-Life Movement

This week, we learned that Alabama, Mississippi, and, now, Missouri have enacted anti-abortion laws that will ban abortion in nearly every case.

We know that these laws are anti-women.  But did you know that these laws are anti-Black too?

In her piece, Kelly points out that these Draconian bills, "were actually birthed from a religious movement that was not originally pro-life at all, but instead about protecting segregated schools."

Make no mistake about it.  The only thing that anti-abortion laws seek to save is white supremacy.

Is the Pro-Life Movement Slavery by Another Name?

Angela extends Kelly's argument.  In her piece, she asks, what is this new anti-abortion fever all about and is the pro-life movement slavery by another name?

Because, here's the thing ladies, according to the Guttmacher Institute, abortion is on the decline in the U.S.

"We can't know for sure, but it seems like the biggest problem that some white folks have with abortions is that white women are having them at a time when white folks fear losing their power as a majority."
