Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) will be hosting the 2024 National Tribal Leaders Climate Summit from April 15-17 at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort on the lands of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe. The Summit will convene leaders from Tribal and First Nations to advance Tribal climate change policy and action. Tribal citizens, staff, elders, youth, and collaborators are also invited to join.
This year’s theme is “Honoring Traditions, Shaping Futures”, reflecting ATNI’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and forging a sustainable future for future generations. The draft agenda is available for viewing featuring panel discussions on empowering young Tribal leaders; nurturing well-being in Tribal communities; and sovereignty, stewardship, and global perspectives.
The Summit will be held at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort and the special event lodging rate is available until April 4. Free shuttles from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will be available by reservation. Scholarships for free or reduced registration costs and volunteer opportunities are also available by application.
The USET Climate Resilience Program is providing planning support for the Summit and has a history of collaboration and solidarity with the ATNI Climate Change Program. The USET Climate Resilience Program provides technical assistance for USET Member Tribal Nations working to address and prevent harm from climate change in their Nations and communities.
