Out of Focus

Many of my writer friends are struggling to focus.  I must admit, so am I.

Someone suggested it was another Mercury retrograde. Did you realize that Mercury goes into retrograde three or four times a year. Holy crap!

Retrograde or not, this time feels to have a different "charge". We can expect misunderstandings, communications to be disrupted; emails may get lost; things may break; overall, logic may temporarily cease to exist, and things are also to be born.

The upside for writers—this is the perfect time for  brainstorming.  When surrounded by chaos, it is a fecund time for spontaneous, unique, and unexpected ideas and resolutions to drop in and inspire you.  I'm taking that as a WIN!

My brainstorming grid is color coded and exploding.  I'm using this time to plan out my next three books!

Thank you for all the love you've been showing my latest release, "Lonely Eyes".  And I'm excited to share in the future, what is brewing now in the chaos.

Be well,

Bernadette

Owen spoke into the darkness. “My word, my promises, mean everything to me. But you don’t know that. Yet. But I’m telling you so you understand. I can protect you.”

He cleared the lump in his throat. “While I was at war, my sister was abducted and murdered. I would never hurt an innocent person.”

“What about a person who wasn’t innocent?” Keira whispered.

Her story is ripped from the headlines.

“I’m Sheriff Cavanaugh. Joe. I was on my way home and noticed the lights down here. I’m not suggesting you have to leave, but the storm is picking up out there.”

“There’s a storm? I didn’t realize…I didn’t even know how late it was.” She shook her head. “I should be going.”

“Well, it was nice to meet you, Laurel. Spencer is a safe place, but if you’d like me to walk you to your car, I’d be—”

An ear-splitting crack and a bright flash of light cut him off. A loud hum sounded, followed by the creak of hinges and a solid snick as the door closed.

“Well, hell,” the sheriff said into the pitch black. “We’re locked in.”

Lula opened her eyes to find Dom looking at her softly.

“I think you were thinking about a kiss.”

“You do?” she asked weakly. He was wrong; she had been thinking much more than that.

“I do.” He ran his thumb over her bottom lip. “Because I was thinking the same thing.”

Oh God. She had to stifle a whimper. “You were?”

He nodded. “Can I kiss you, Lu?”

She stared at him, trying to convey how much she wanted it without saying so. All she could really do was nod.

COMING NOVEMBER 13, 2020

Shella – The Devil’s Fury are the only family I’ve ever truly had. My mom was a junkie. When she died, no one wanted me. Except Grizzly. I had a home, until things went horribly wrong. I went wild, pushed too many boundaries, and overstayed my welcome. So I ran and didn’t look back. Trouble always seems to find me, so it’s no surprise I ended up pregnant, alone, and scared out of my mind. Then Slash shows up. Out of all the Devil’s Fury brothers to come for me, why did it have to be the one I’ve been crushing on since I was a teenager.

Slash – Little Shella was always a pretty girl. Spoiled. Outspoken. A complete terror. Now that she’s all grown up, she’s stunning. I needed to keep my hands to myself, and maybe I would have if she hadn’t been adamant not to disclose the name of her baby-daddy. Only way to protect her is to give her my name. Doesn’t matter I’m old enough to be her father. When I find out her secrets, and the reason she’d behaved so badly, I know I’ll do whatever it takes to make her feel safe… even if it means burying a few men. I already have blood on my hands. What’s a little more?

WARNING: Slash’s book contains graphic violence and sex, bad language, and scenes that may be difficult for some readers.
