FSU hires law enforcement veteran as new chief of police

Rhonda L. Harris, a 37-year law enforcement veteran, is Florida State University's new assistant vice president for public safety and chief of police. She will start in the position in May. Harris comes to FSU from Old Dominion University where she has served as chief of police since 2012, adding the title of assistant vice president for public safety in 2014. Read more ...

Going for the gold: FSU student to compete on bobsled team at 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing

Four years after beginning his bobsled training, Florida State University student and athlete Josh Williamson, who holds two World Cup bronze medals, is making his Olympic debut at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Believed to be the first FSU student to compete in the Winter Olympics, Williamson joins a long list of FSU Olympians who have competed in past Summer Olympic Games. Read more ...

Tarek Abichou, executive director of the Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response (RIDER) Center and a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, answered questions about RIDER’s Methane Emissions Reduction Initiative (MERI) and how this research can play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Read more ...
