"On my first visit to the beautiful Una Vida studio, I took a Qigong class with Debbie. I had no idea what Qigong was and I have to admit I struggled for the first minutes, feeling awkward and silly.
I’m very physically active, but all of my focus is on outward accomplishments… running, biking, and lifting weights. Using my time in this slow introspective way felt frivolous, but I decided to have an open mind.
By the end, I realized the gift of the class was the introspection and the forced slowing down of time and space. The entire focus of the practice was me, my peace.
What a luxurious gift to be guided to a place where using physical movements, I was given the ability to block out everything and create a space for myself, a space that was free from negativity and expectations.
The constant movement of my daily life doesn’t afford many opportunities to connect with myself, but using the principles of qigong, I have new tools to help remind me to find space for me."
