ARDFA is opening the East Coast Flood Appeal, enabling you to support flood victims through the local church.
Why through the local church? They are the light and salt of the community, with the networks and relationships to know how to best assist flood victims and support recovery.
Heavy rains have caused massive and widespread flooding, affecting South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. Tens of thousands of people are affected, with many people being displaced. Evacuations are continuing and new alerts are still being issued.
The scope of this devastation continues to grow. Eleven people have died as a result of the flood and 20,000 homes have been inundated in Queensland. The city of Brisbane has suffered major flooding, along with the cities of Maryborough, Gympie, the Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Logan City, and the Gold Coast. Major flooding is affecting many NSW towns, including Murwillumbah, Grafton, Ballina and Lismore. The storms has been described as a “one in 1000-year” event, by NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet.
Give to our brothers and sisters in need. Support the work of the local church in their community.
