Uncertainty. It grows every day.
How do you respond?
You tell.
You control.
You command.
You give direction.
What's the problem?
Thats exactly what people need in high uncertainty.
I’m not so sure.
Instead of being told, people most want to be involved.
The best way to do that?
Ask.
It's easy when the pressure is off.
Not so much in crucial moments.
🧰. I have a hack that will help you.
It’s three steps:
- Label your uncertainty.
- Tell a suggestion.
- Ask a question.
Examples:
- "I’m uncertain about the future. I’m thinking about reorganising the team. What do you think?"
- "I’m expecting the project to be cut short. I’m planning on moving you to another team. What would be your ideal outcome?"
- "I need to cut expenses. I might have to reduce the staff. What ideas do you have that might help us avoid that scenario?"
It's tempting to skip the labelling and asking.
But it's the combination that gets results.
Label. Tell. Ask.
🤚 Don't forget.
Be genuine and listen. You can easily fake it.
