MLTAV-funded places for the AFMLTA International Languages Conference
5-6 July 2021, online via Zoom
The MLTAV is pleased to be able to support 20 members to participate in the AFMLTA International Languages Conference to be held online on 5-6 July 2021. Members can apply to have their conference registration funded by the MLTAV.
All successful applicants will need to write a short piece for the December 2021 edition of MLTAV's journal, Languages Victoria. This would be a minimum of 500 words reflecting on key learnings from conference sessions attended. Funded places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. When all places have been filled this application process will be closed. This is an excellent opportunity to access quality Professional Learning suited to teachers of all languages across all levels. See the conference website for more details, including the Conference Program overview.
The MLTAV PL Sub-Committee has many quality webinars planned for Term 3. Dates and details will be advertised in the next issue of Languages Connect.
SAVE THE DATE:
The Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS) is hosting a full day face to face Professional Learning day for teachers of Languages on Tuesday 3 August. Teachers in Catholic schools can register for this event through OPLS. Teachers in government and independent schools will be able to register through MLTAV - with MLTAV members able to access at a discounted rate.
ACARA Australian Curiculum Review: Languages
ACARA has recently been reviewing the Australian Curriculum across all areas including Languages.
There are 14 individual Languages curricula in the Australian Curriculum. The review has so far proposed revisions to the second language pathways for F-10 and Years 7-10 in Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese. The other Languages subjects and pathways will follow in stages and be completed by 2023.
The Languages Consultation Curriculum for Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese are now available to download and review. Teachers of languages are encouraged to provide feedback through the online survey available on the ACARA Consultation website.
The opportunity to participate in this consultation process will be open until 8 July 2021.
