As we wrap up a dynamic month, it is a pleasure to reflect on the strides we have made together at P@SHA. From representing Pakistan’s tech prowess at GITEX Global 2024 to forging stronger international ties, we’ve demonstrated our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and growth in the IT sector.
In October, our delegation’s participation at GITEX was a highlight, where we not only showcased the ingenuity of Pakistani companies but also engaged in meaningful B2B interactions, paving the way for new partnerships. Additionally, the meeting with the Commercial Counsellor of Hungary opened new doors for cross-border cooperation, and our continued partnership discussions with HBL emphasize the importance of fostering strong ties within our ecosystem.
We’ve also been active in supporting industry events like the Agile Conference and the Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Hackathon, where our leadership shared insights that contribute to the development of new practices and policies in the tech space.
As we look forward to the upcoming months, our focus remains on empowering our members, advocating for policy advancements, and building global partnerships to ensure that Pakistan’s IT sector continues to thrive. - Pre-Event Meeting: On October 13, 2024, a strategic briefing session set the stage for the delegation’s success, led by P@SHA’s leadership.
- Pakistan Pavilion Inauguration: The Pakistan Pavilion was inaugurated on October 14, 2024, marking a significant moment for Pakistan’s IT sector. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and P@SHA’s leaders led the event, facilitating high-level networking and B2B engagements.
- Pakistan Night at GITEX: This networking gala on the same day was a platform for strengthening Pakistan-UAE ties in the tech sphere. Speeches by key figures like Umair Nizam and Zeeshan R. Khattak emphasized the IT sector’s growth potential.
- Panel Discussions & Speaking Slots: Featuring insights from industry leaders like Sajjad Syed (Chairman, P@SHA) on AI, and discussions on blockchain and tech infrastructure, these sessions placed Pakistan at the forefront of global tech conversations.
Pakistan Connexion Lounge: This hub facilitated numerous B2B meetings, fostering promising leads and partnerships. The PSEB’s in-house booking system efficiently managed meeting spaces, contributing to fruitful interactions.

October 21st, 2024 - P@SHA had the privilege of hosting Dr. Istvan Grafjodi, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Hungary, at our Islamabad office. The meeting, attended by Sajjad Syed, Chairman of P@SHA, along with CEC Members Sheikh Abdul Qadir, Salman Dar, and Secretary General Nadeem A. On October 26, 2024, the University of Central Punjab in Lahore hosted the Agile Conference Pakistan, a leading event for Agile methodology enthusiasts. This conference gathered experts across various sectors to explore advancements in Agile practices, including keynote sessions, panel discussions, and masterclasses. The conference featured Sajjad Mustafa Syed, the Chairman of PASHA, as a keynote speaker. He shared insights on how Agile principles are crucial for modern organizations in an era of constant change, emphasizing Agile's role in fostering innovation and flexibility for sustainable growth.
This year's Agile Conference Pakistan (ACP24) was especially significant as it expanded to multiple cities, including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, offering a robust platform for professionals to network and learn about advancements in agility and leadership practices.

Pakistan made a remarkable presence at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024, showcasing 13 innovative Exhibitors and 11 Delegates that highlight the country's growing tech landscape.

Meeting with PSEB
The Policy team convened a detailed meeting with the PSEB to discuss and address the feedback provided by the FBR, Ministry of Commerce, State Bank and the PPRA on the Make in Pakistan policy draft. The meeting aimed to review and integrate comments from public stakeholders, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and enhancing the policy’s effectiveness in promoting local IT manufacturing and exports.

Institute of Strategic Studies - Pakistan’s Investment Landscape: Challenges, Opportunities, and Way Forward
P@SHA was invited to attend a Special Talk on “Pakistan’s Investment Landscape: Challenges, Opportunities, and Way Forward” at The China Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC), ISSI. The session highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location, young workforce, and natural resources as investment strengths, alongside challenges like regulatory hurdles and policy continuity. Key sectors for investment, including IT, agriculture, and textiles, were emphasized, with Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under CPEC viewed as crucial for attracting foreign capital. The event called for a stable policy environment and cross-sector collaboration to promote investor confidence and sustainable growth in Pakistan.

Stakeholder Consultation - Regional Integration in the Digital Era: Leveraging Trade for Climate and Health Solutions
P@SHA participated in a multi-stakeholder consultation session organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on "Regional Integration in the Digital Era,". The session highlighted think tanks' role in advancing technologies to support regional trade. It emphasized that initiatives like Pakistan Single Window (PSW) need a performance index to gauge effectiveness, private sector feedback to refine operations, and harmonized data governance aligned with international standards.

A Meeting with Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Uqaili (Member, Industry Development) Information Science and Technology Department was held on 16th October 2024 at Sindh Secretariat, Information Science and Technology Department, Government of Sindh.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Munaf (Industry Engagement Co-Chair & Member Central Executive Committee P@SHA) and Mr. Farrell Menezes (Senior Coordinator, P@SHA).
During the meeting discussions were held on the issues being faced by the IT Industry and matters of mutual interest.

Pakistan’s 4th Nationwide Digital Pakistan CyberSecurity Hackathon 2024 was held on 30th October 2024 at Hotel Pearl Continental in which P@SHA participated as an outreach partner.

Excellence Delivered (ExD), in collaboration with NASTP Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), proudly hosted the NASA International Space Apps Challenge on October 5-6, 2024. The hackathon saw 200 participants tackling challenges related to space and Earth, with guidance from 40 mentors and insights from 20 jury members across various fields. ExD awarded prizes to the Appolo's Lyers and Tech Tribe-101 teams for their innovative solutions in Galactic Games and ExoPlanet themes.
