So far, we've talked about choosing a homeschool preschool curriculum as well as how to gather resources for learning at home, and today, in our third and final e-mail in this course, we're going to chat about the third step:

Getting Organized & STAYING Organized

When it comes to getting organized, there are a few tools/tips I would suggest!

#1 - I would encourage you to use some type of planner to jot down your daily lesson plans - nothing fancy. I typically include a couple of notes about which workbook pages I want to do as well as what hands-on activities I'm planning to do with my kids that week. There will not be a one-size fits all way to do this, so play around with what works best for you! I typically plan 1-2 months ahead - once again, just a few notes made in pencil. Creating notes in pencil encourages me to be flexible - I may add something. I may omit something. I may change things up all together! Homeschooling Perk #3,784!

#2 - I have found it helpful to keep our daily resources all together in a decorative basket! This provides a home for things like my planner, flashcards I'm currently using with my kids, supplies for the hands-on activities I'm wanting to do that week, etc. - keeping all of these things as neat and tidy as possible while also helping to keep everything right there within reach! No running around at the last minute! No putting off "school time" because I don't have my stuff handy!

#3 - If you have a cabinet or a closet where you are keeping all of your homeschooling supplies (You know, all those amazing resources that we chatted about in the last e-mail!), I would highly suggest organizing them in such a way that everything is quickly accessible and easy to find! Arrange your resources by subject or topic or theme or category - Whichever you prefer! Label them if you want! Do whatever will help you maintain some organization as these types of collections can quickly get out of control if we let them!

Before diving in to homeschooling your preschooler, definitely take some time to get organized! Think about the things you want to do with your child...gather a few resources that will help to make those things happen...think through how to best organize all of this...and then you're ready to get started!

Once again, please let me remind you that there is no wrong way to do this! As you focus on simply having fun learning with your little one in a way that both of you enjoy, I promise it will be a success! Have fun, mamas! You are doing a fantastic job!
