Dear USET/USET SPF Family,

The Department of Education, Office of Indian Education (OIE) has announced that it will host a Tribal consultation on developing its Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Budget Request. OIE has identified several grant programs with Tribal implications. These include, but are not limited to, Demonstration Grants for Indian Children and Youth, the State Tribal Education Partnership Grant Program, the Native American Language Grant Program, and the American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

Details regarding this upcoming Tribal consultation are as follows—

Tribal governments participating in the consultation may designate information provided as “sensitive” and request non-disclosure of the information to the public. However, OIE has indicated that certain laws such as the Freedom of Information Act will still apply. The deadline to submit written comments on development of OIE’s FY 2025 Budget Request is Friday, June 23, 2023 by 11:59pm ET and should be submitted to TribalConsultation@ed.gov.
