Sunday Worship Service

Dear St. Andrew's Community and Friends:

Last Sunday I began a new series, "Glimpses of Paradise," by focusing on Jacob's dream at the "gate of heaven."  For reasons explained in this service, I turned attention this week to Psalm 104.  There are no visions of the beyond this time -- the focus is on truths in plain sight.  Once again I am delighted to collaborate with Scott who does such an artful job weaving various images into the presentation.

Carol Lefley is our reader.  Chris and Erin lead us in "How Majestic is Your Name," 'All Creatures of Our God and King," and "We Give Thee But Thine Own," and Chris's solo piano artistry is also part of the experience.  Disciple Dog makes his contribution by leading me on a scavenger hunt.

In the midst of a summer heat wave, COVID and all of life's challenges, I hope the service is meaningful to you.

Adult Education...

Adult Education This Sunday: Enter into an exotic and fanciful Persian Kingdom complete with a dim-witted king, a defiant queen, an egotistical lieutenant and a loyal uncle. With lavish banquets, extreme beauty treatments and dangerous liaisons at every turn, can the beautiful and courageous Esther avert disaster for her people? All this occurs in a Biblical book where God is never mentioned. Rev. Lisa Wolfe digs deeply and lovingly into this complex story that ranges from slapstick farce to Shakespearian tragedy in Uppity Women of the Bible - Esther. So, grab your Purim gragger and your hamantaschen – if you don’t know what those are, you’ll find out – and join Dr. Wolfe for this fascinating study of power, corruption, violence and courage. Please join us in our zoom Adult Education Class on Sunday August 16th at 11:00 AM.

The syllabus for the class is available HERE.
