Knowledge Creation to Dissemination: Where do Women’s Health Providers fit in a Knowledge Translation Model?

“Translate or terminate” is the new “publish or perish” for researchers. New knowledge created from research must be translated, disseminated and put into action in order to demonstrate impact.  Measure of impact is evidence for end-users and other stakeholders, such as funding sources, as highlighted in the previous social media engagement series Part II, altmetrics. Thus, Knowledge Translation (KT) is an increasing area of research interest to all involved in its process.

The Role Of Trauma In Chronic Pain: Maximizing Our Skill Set For Mind-Body Healing

This course examines the literature on Autonomic nervous system response to trauma and the parallels between trauma (PTSD, abuse, ACE scores) and chronic pain and then goes a step further to look at a multi-dimensional treatment approach through manual, exercise, breathing and the actual anatomic mechanics that make this approach successful. It is evidence-based and the instructor incorporates a newer concept of heart rate variability into the conversation. With the stress on PNE/TPE, we can do better that tell people to breath and walk. This course examines how we do this well and why we, as Physical Therapists (PTs), are the best suited for this role.

Complex Case for CSM!

Do you have a complex case to submit for CSM 2021?

We welcome your submission for complex cases! Complex cases was designed to allow people to share their insights on treating patients that do not present “textbook”, have multiple co-existing factors and to help new therapists learn how more experienced therapist critically think through patient’s presentation. This session also gives an opportunity for therapists with some experience to “get their feet wet” with speaking and feel comfortable sharing their thought process.

If your case is chosen we will contact you directly! Submit your case before the deadline.

CAPP Certification

The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (APTA Pelvic Health) awards the Certificate of Achievement in Physical Therapy (Obstetric Physical Therapy or Pelvic Health Physical Therapy) to licensed Physical Therapists (PTs) who complete a series of comprehensive evidence-based education courses, written and clinical testing at each level and a written case report rigorously reviewed by the CAPP Case Reflection Committee. Upon successful passing, recipients are featured in the Academy’s distinguished directory, receive a Certificate of Achievement they can display in their office to patients and employers to demonstrate the caliber of their accomplishment.

Direct Access Once Again Boosted by National Policy Organization

The cause of unrestricted direct access to physical therapist services continues to have another high-profile supporter — the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, the conservative-leaning group that drafts and promotes model legislation for use by state governments.

In response to APTA's urging, ALEC decided to reauthorize a resolution that supports direct access to physical therapy and calls on states to enact laws "eliminating the professional practice restriction regarding referral." The resolution, which has been on ALEC's books since 2001, was brought up for reconsideration by the council's Health and Human Services Task Force in early December.
