Here is my summary of today's press conference by Mecklenburg County Public Health officials. See below for the press release. Click here for the video of today's press conference with reporters' Q&A.
At 8:30 a.m. this Thursday, January 21st, Mecklenburg County will begin accepting appointment reservations for Groups 1 and 2. Appointments can be made online or by calling 980-314-9400 and selecting Option 3. The appointments will be during the first three weeks of February.
Note: There are about 80,000 people in our community between the ages of 65-74. Public Health is only receiving about 1,950 doses a week. In addition, there are individuals 75+ years of age who have not received the vaccine yet. Thus, there is much more demand than current supply of the vaccine. Mecklenburg County is following NC HHS's prioritization schedule. Public Health officials ask for your patience as they advocate with the State for more vaccine.
