For the past 12 years we have maintained our status as a non-profit organisation. We were founded on the principle of helping others to learn more about the world and be facilitated to achieve their travel goals.

As we have grown, so have our operational costs, both for absolutely necessary things such as servers and web-related technology and for human resources costs, as our team has expanded with more members – necessary both for progress in terms of IT as well as marketing.

In order to be able to continue our operation and to expand in a way consistent with our ambitious vision, we are therefore changing our operational model to a profit-based headquartered in Estonia as NomadMania OU.

At the same time we are not losing site of our non-profit origins, as we continue to focus on our aim of a world where travel becomes more democratic. We will continue with out scholarship programme, which we plan to relaunch before the end of the year, offering travel scholarships to those with few means.

What does this imply in terms of you?

Not very much, if anything at all, on a day-to-day basis, since NomadMania’s basic offering will always remain free of charge. Nevertheless, you can expect some subtle changes as we move on.

Meeting in Delhi, India Report

Last weekend we hosted our first NomadMania Meeting in Delhi, India.

Over 30 people showed up, which was more than we expected,  demonstrating a great interest from Indian travellers. Only 6 participants have actually travelled abroad, but after the meeting everyone got motivation to explore beyond the Indian borders.

Having Markus Lundgren (no. 21 on our The Biggest Travellers list and with over 1000 NM regions visited) personally joining too was very welcomed by the group. The energy was great, and it was so nice to see people connecting and sharing their travel stories.

Special thanks to our Southern Asia Envoy, Nitin Tyagi, for organising this. Everyone is already looking forward to the next meeting.

Check out more meetings all over the world on our Calendar page.

P.S. We are looking for overlanders. Please reach out to us if you are this kind of traveller and have an interesting story to share. Just hit "reply" :-)
