The Idea
I am sure at some point in your life, you have encountered one of those people who behave as if they know everything about the world.
They know what's exactly wrong with the world and how it can be fixed.
In today's time, it has become more severe.
With the rise of social media, today we have an abundance of experts.
Experts who have solutions to all your problems.
Sometimes even without knowing your problem, they have a solution.
Such experts are also self-proclaimed criticizers.
They criticize the world, the system, the job policy, everything.
Criticizing is perhaps easy not just because it feels good but the world we live in is not at all perfect.
There is extreme inequality, poverty, violence, injustice, etc. There are a lot of things wrong in this country, in this world that deserves criticism.
But when you criticize others or the world, there is a deep problem.
Suppose you are participating in a 100-meter sprint.
But you started practicing just 2 days before the sprint.
During the race, you fell down due to a hole in the race track.
It's unfair right. Now you can keep on blaming the organizers for doing injustice with you.
What purpose it will serve?
Yes, it will make you feel good that it's not your fault. Organizers were unfair to you. But it will not improve your running ability or your performance.
On the contrary. you would falsely believe that you would have held a rank, had organizers were not unfair to you.
Are you seeing the problem?
There was no chance that you would have performed well as you had started practicing just 2 days before the race.
The same thing is happening to us.
A lot of times the world is unfair to us.
But how we respond can make a big difference.
If you blame people, government, or the universe for your misfortune, you are losing your power to improve.
Whereas, if you own the misfortune without repeatedly blaming the universe, you are gaining the power to improve.
If your suffering is your own fault, you can actually do something about it.
Before criticizing others ask yourself
'Have I taken full advantage of every opportunity available to me?
Am I working hard at my career? my relationships? Outside of work to improve myself?
The world is not fair always. On top of that, if you are not fair with yourself then you are inviting disasters.
Stop talking bad about others.
Do not corrupt your soul.
Do only those things about which you would speak with honor.
Set your life in order before you criticize others.
As Jordan B. Peterson said in his book '12 Rules of Life'-
'If you can not bring peace to your household, how dare you try to rule a city?'
