I was told there was another person ahead of me in line to buy it. After a week, the seller informed me that the other buyer had not turned up and if I wanted, the plotter was available for purchase.
So during the weekend, I left for Tuscany with my boyfriend, extremely excited about my big "purchase." After a two-hour drive, we finally arrived at our destination. I got to plug my laptop into the printer and it turned on fine. No doubt a great start!
Eventually, I got to the fateful moment of printing something. I clicked on PRINT.
The printing starts... The paper rolls in...
Print...
Print...
...and the paper comes out totally blank.
Definitely not a good sign, but to make matters worse, the rubber belt, which moves the print head back and forth, broke right at that very moment before our eyes.
Basically, I returned home empty-handed with my dreams shattered, but I didn't give up.
After being disappointed bitterly by this experience online, I thought of trying the "good old word-of-mouth". I contacted all my friends and acquaintances who I thought might have a plotter for sale. I found one that eventually turned out to be so old that it didn't even have a USB plug. Definitely a bit outdated!
I then convinced myself that after all, I can still carry on with scissors, glue, and my trusty (so to speak) A4 printer. Thanks to the Valentina Puzzle (if you don't know what Valentina is, check out this LINK), I can divide my sewing patterns into many A4 sheets, which I can then glue together.
That was until I had to print a sewing pattern made up of 77 A4 sheets.
At the end of that giant puzzle, I had almost reached the brink of exhaustion. Besides, just the thought that in order to make a very small change, I would have to print and start all over again terrified me.
Life, however, sometimes surprises you! My birthday is on June 12th and the wonderful people who surround and support me decided to surprise me with a new plotter. Well, what can I say? Sometimes, disappointing stories can have happy endings.
Here's a picture of me with my new plotter!
Until the next adventure!
