Coronavirus Travel Warnings

Yesterday the Center for International Education sent out an email alert urging international students to reconsider any plans for this spring due to global concern for the coronavirus (COVID-19). 

We encourage you to check your email frequently to receive timely updates on the situation.

Madison College has created a website to offer COVID-19 updates. Moving forward, this website will serve as the main point of communication, for college policy, resources, and updates regarding college responses to COVID-19.

Please know that CIE remains open during Spring Break, should you need our assistance.
Important: Reminder to File your IRS Tax Forms

It's just a few weeks until the April 15th tax filing deadline! As a nonresident in the U.S. you have a tax filing obligation with the IRS, even if you did not receive U.S. income. 

Failure to file can lead to complications when applying for U.S. visas in the future.

Madison College has arranged free access to Sprintax Tax Preparation for you. Sprintax will guide you through the tax preparation process, arrange the necessary documents and check if you are due a tax refund.

All you need to do is:

  • Register and follow the simple instructions
  • Complete the online questionnaire
  • Enter your unique code SpTx2019MC51F in the box on the 'Review your order' page
  • Sprintax will prepare your tax return

Finally, once you complete the preparation process in the Sprintax software, you must print, sign and mail your documents to the IRS.

If you have any questions, the Sprintax team will be happy to help via their 24/7 live chat facility.

International Student Scholarships

Madison College offers two scholarships for F-1 visa students - Devi Bhargava Memorial International Student Scholarship and International Student Foundation Scholarship. Both scholarships have an application deadline of March 31st. 

Find out more information on the International tab of the scholarships web page. Complete applications must be submitted to iss@madisoncollege.edu or to the CIE front desk D1630 by no later than midnight of the March 31st deadline.

The Center for International Education will have regular office hours, as well as regular walk-in advising hours, during Spring Break.

Exploring Culture Through Conversation

April 21st - May 14th
Mondays & Wednesdays 11:30 am - 1:20 pm

The School of Academic Advancement and the Volunteer Center are collaborating on a conversation partner class and volunteer opportunity this spring. Participants will discuss various topics and the purpose of these discussion sessions is to help students improve their English speaking skills, learn about American culture and connect with people.
