Recruiting Underway for Port of Olympia Citizens Advisory Committee -
Creating a Diverse Group to Help Shape the Future
OLYMPIA — The Port of Olympia is excited to announce they are recruiting two community members for its 17-member Port of Olympia Citizens Advisory Committee (POCAC).
The POCAC plays a crucial role in advising the Port Commission, staff and community on matters related to Port operations, economic development, environmental stewardship, special projects and initiatives and community engagement.
The Port is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment that reflects the rich diversity of the region. Individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences in Thurston County are encouraged to join the esteemed committee and help shape the future of the community.
By assembling a diverse group of individuals, the Port aims to widen the range of perspectives and voices that collaborate and contribute to decision making. The POCAC will provide valuable insights, recommendations, and feedback to the Port Commission, helping to shape initiatives that align with the needs and aspirations of the community.

"The Citizens Advisory Committee will serve as a platform for community members to shape the future of the Port of Olympia. We want to hear the unique perspectives of our community."
Applicants must be residents of Thurston County and be available to attend regular committee meetings which are held monthly and the potential of sub-committee meetings. Committee member terms are three years.
The Port welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, ages, disabilities, and sexual orientation. To apply for a position, visit the Port's POCAC applications webpage . The application deadline is Nov. 9, 2023.

The Port of Olympia Citizens Advisory Committee (“POCAC”) is a Committee of volunteer citizens selected through an application process as determined by the Port of Olympia Commission.
