Welcome to a new community media year - 2020!

After a successful Annual General Assembly and with a new board in place, CMFE is happy to be back in contact after a busy transition period. One of our decisions is that you can expect monthly newsletters from now on, allowing you to follow major developments within the community media area on the European scene, and we will share updates on our activities within the priority areas outlined in our strategic plan.

CMFE's three central strategic priority areas are "Strengthening the enabling environment of the 3rd media sector", "Communication and Visibility of Community Media" and "Action and cooperation for change", which are the headings - below - for our highlights over the past couple of months.

Together with our CMFE Expert Group, we will in our monthly newsletters collect and share 'community media classifieds' including new relevant titles, calls for proposals and chapters along with relevant job- and consultancy offers. Do share information you want amplified:

Presentation of CMFE members, started by outgoing President Judith Purkarthofer, will continue. The first is presented below - who wants to be next?

Starting up in this new promising community media decade, we present below a quick recap of the most important recent publications, events and other CMFE engagements. We have a number of 'MEMBERS ONLY' services on the drawing board, which we look forward to launch soonest.

We would love to hear from you: share your recent successes and challenges, let us know what you would like CMFE to be for you, and? Let us make this newsletter a dynamic forum for sharing, listening and learning! Welcome!

'New Neighbours' meet in Siena, Freiburg and Vienna

New Neighbours is about people who had to leave their home and try to integrate into a new neighbourhood, new village, new city, new society. At the heart of the project are 9 documentary films produced by public service media, telling moving and exciting stories of present-day Europe and placing migrant voices at the heart of discussions on migration.

In addition, community media empower the «New Neighbours» and provide them a place to develop their independent voices and make them heard in public debate. Read much more here!

Defending the last community radio in Hungary - Civil Rádio

During the past months CMFE has worked to support the last space for community voices on air in Hungary, Civil Radio. We have among others been in contact with the Hungarian Media Council, proposing an inter-European exchange on advantages and disadvantages to having open and free community media.
