The first half of 2019 has seen CityHope Disaster Relief making a significant impact on the lives of 8,230 individuals across South Africa and Malawi. The Response Team has been working tirelessly into a vast number of communities that have been struck by disasters of all kinds.

The most severe disaster of this quarter was the flooding that took place in Kwa-Zulu Natal in April, resulting in the fatalities of approximately 70 individuals and leaving thousands without homes to return to. CityHope was overwhelmed by the public’s generous response to this incident and wish to thank every individual that contributed in some way to support those that were affected by the floods. Please take a moment to read how CityHope and the community united following this devastating event.

CityHope Disaster Relief is blessed to fall under the banner of City Hill Church in Hillcrest. It is because of this relationship that we were able to lavishly host our strategic partners from CBN South Africa for their annual partner's breakfast on Sat 1st June. View some of the images of the morning here. With further thanks to City Hill Church, we were also able to share during one of the Sunday services about the impact that we are making in South Africa and the details of our trip into Malawi were published in the City Hill Culture Magazine. We are most grateful for our new strategic church partner in Port Elizabeth. The members of Harvest Church were quick to respond when a fire broke out in a nearby settlement and destroyed 25 shacks. The church efficiently rallied a team of responders who arrived on the scene to distribute relief aid as well as prayers and support for the members and community leaders in the region. Harvest Church in P.E, as well as Cornerstone Church in Bedfordview and The Warehouse in Cape Town,  have played crucial roles in our responses in their regions.

CityHope Disaster Relief is positioned to help people in need because of the generous donations we receive and the sponsors that we have. All donations are greatly appreciated and go a long way in making a lasting impact on so many lives.

Following the KZN Floods, CityHope called for volunteers to attend a relief packing session, where close on 500 Hope Kits were filled with blankets, various sustainable food items and essential toiletries. The vast crowds that arrived for the session were able to have the job completed within the hour, due to their eagerness to make a difference in the communities surrounding them.

Partnership Opportunity:

CityHope Disaster Relief is seeking a partnership whereby a utility vehicle will be loaned to the organisation for a period of one year. This vehicle will assist with the collection of donations as well as with the distribution of relief aid to disaster-stricken regions within KZN. The vehicle will do no more than 30,000km per annum.

The vehicle will be branded with both the CityHope and Donor’s branding to ensure maximum exposure.
