The Grimace & The Giggle

a newsletter designed to make you smile and (sometimes)
twitch ...kind of like a tickle.

Hopefully, everyone who celebrated it had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Most of us here in the US got snow ...and slippery roads.  But we also got time with family and friends, and maybe even a little bit of Christmas shopping done.  Me?  I launched a book.  (Hey, I know how to have fun, right?)  And I also took The Grimace & The Giggle out of mothballs, so here we are!

Slightly Disturbing Stories: an illustrated collection of paranormal, dark fantasy, & urban contemporary tales

This book is dedicated to all those who like a nerve-tingling story that ends well for the innocent and good.

There's no 'gruel'-no gore and cruel. There's nothing to make you scream or hide your eyes. There's no sexual perversion. What there is might bring a tear of joy at story's end and make you squirm a bit in the middle, but, regardless, the stories will stick with you, each a slightly disturbing ripple in your memory. It's not what's shown or told; it's what's left unsaid that echoes ...forever.

New from Thriller Author Michael Allan Scott

Ripped out of today's headlines.
Jena stumbles onto a hotbed of hidden criminality--a discovery that puts a target on her back. Abnormal results of clinical drug trials, buried by an international pharmaceutical company. The drug researcher in charge dies of an opioid overdose. The head of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research goes missing. Will the FDA Director turn whistleblower? Did Jena's stepfather die in vain?

Eyes in the sky, she sees. Head in the clouds, she searches. Feet on the ground, she answers the call--Jena Halpern, the reluctant police consultant.

A twisted tale, rife with corporate greed and government corruption. A mystery/thriller whose damaged characters and their criminal behavior paint a catastrophic vision for the future. Treat yourself to a new and different binge read, today.

Chicken Parmesan Casserole

Chicken Parmesan done casserole style that takes about 15 minutes to prepare and about 35 minutes to bake. No breading or frying.

  • 2 tbs olive oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and finely chopped, or dried, minced garlic, your choice
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (or not)
  • 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 8oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 6oz. garlic croutons or garlic bread crumbs.

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F (175° C).
  2. Coat the bottom of a 9x13 inch casserole dish with butter or olive oil, and sprinkle with garlic and, if desired, red pepper flakes.
  3. Arrange the chicken breasts in bottom of the dish, and pour marinara sauce over chicken. Sprinkle basil over marinara sauce, and top with half the mozzarella cheese, followed by half the Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle on the croutons, then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese.
  4. Bake in preheated oven until cheese and croutons are golden brown and the chicken is no longer pink inside, about 35 minutes to an hour, depending on the shape and thickness of your chicken breasts. A thermometer inserted into the thickest part of a chicken breast should read at least 160° F (70° C).
