The objective of Lot 2 is to ensure that the development and implementation of the Forum’s strategic and advocacy priorities is driven by its members, in alliance with the EaP CSF Steering Committee and the EaP CSF Secretariat. The actions aim to increase awareness and the prominence of the EaP region. The Secretariat of the EaP CSF is looking for a Communications trainee to join our team on Monday, 13 September 2021 and work for 6 months to support the work of the Communications Manager. The trainee will assist in the implementation of communication action plans for EaP CSF campaigns and activities, as well as assist on visual design and manage social media networks of the Forum. Working Group 1of the EaP CSF Moldovan National Platform has produced a report on the state of public policies in the country. The report includes a compilation of summaries on monitoring public policies conducted by Moldovan members of EaP CSF within various projects during January 2020 – July 2021. During the second informal working group meeting on Research & Innovation, the EaP CSF representatives, Ivan Kulchytskyy and Volodymyr Nochvai, discussed how to help improve the R&I ecosystem in EaP countries and bring R&I higher on the agenda of the governments. The meeting also tackled ways of widening participation and strengthening the European Research Area and the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions in Horizon Europe. Hanna Asipovich leads work on preparing the new Eastern Partnership Index in 2021. She serves as a team lead for research efforts, gives contributions and direction to prepare, launch and promote the final Index. She is an independent consultant with 14 years of INGO sector experience in full cycle project management, research and policy advice with interest in public participation and freedom of assembly. She designed and led programs on strengthening civil society and the rule of law in all countries of the Eastern Partnership region.

Belarusian authorities continue to purge its society as about 100 civil society organisations have been closed down. The Steering Committee of the EaP CSF resolutely decries these liquidations, which can only be interpreted as destructive operations. These are being led not only against human rights organisations, but also think tanks and journalistic, environmental, social, charity, educational, youth, and business organisations. The Steering Committee of the EaP CSF denounces the unprecedented attack of the Belarusian authorities on dozens of Belarusian civil society organisations, human rights defenders, and activists across the country. The Steering Committee of the EaP CSF once again calls on the Belarusian government to recognise and act on the Belarusian people’s demand for free elections and democratic values, as witnessed by the peaceful protests in 2020. The Steering Committee of the EaP CSF condemns the Belarusian government’s decision to suspend its participation in both the Eastern Partnership and the Readmission agreement. The EaP CSF Belarusian National Platform also condemns the Belarusian authorities’ decision and insists on the further participation of the Republic of Belarus in the Eastern Partnership initiative, as well as other Belarusian-European initiatives, projects and communication formats at all levels. CSO Charitable Organisation Interecocentre (Ukraine) together with its project partners from CSO Public Association EcoContact (Moldova) and CSO Bahna (Belarus) will prepare a policy paper for further development and management of transboundary Emerald Sites in compliance with EU Biodiversity Policy. The organisations met and discussed the goals, objectives and expected results, which should be at the end of the project. More information about the meeting here (in Russian).

Anti-Discrimination Centre Memorial Brussels with its project partners from Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine held an online meeting devoted to the problems of children’s rights in closed institutions for minors in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova. The meeting raised concerns such as the detention of migrant children in special detention centres, international standards for combating torture of children and the situation of children in various places of detention in the EaP countries. The European Academy on Youth Work aims to support innovation and exchange in youth work and youth work policy. The conference will take place during 2-5 November 2021 in Portoroz, Slovenia and is open to youth workers, trainers, youth policy makers or researchers from Erasmus+ Programme countries and Partner Countries neighbouring the EU. 'Transitions' (TOL) offers a self-paced e-learning course that consists of three separate interactive classes. The topics covered include reporting on science when you’re not a scientist, methods for debunking myths and hoaxes, and fact-checking techniques. The courses are currently available in Romanian and Ukrainian.

Building on the ‘20 deliverables for 2020’, the EU has proposed a set of post-2020 Eastern Partnership priorities. In line with the five policy objectives, these priorities will strengthen the resilience of the partner countries by investing in two pillars: investment and governance. The proposal includes a €2.3 billion Economic and Investment plan and additional support to civil society. Read more here.
