As we have seen throughout our month long journey of getting to know who God is, the Bible paints a clear picture of the attributes of God. This morning we continue to examine characteristics of the most high God!
He is Omnipotent!
Job 37:23 reads…The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.
He is Gracious!
Psalm 86:15 states…But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
He is Omniscient!
Romans 8:28 proclaims… And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
He is Sovereign!
Ephesians 1:11 says…In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.
He is Perfect!
2 Samuel 22:31 explains… “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
He is Personal!
Matthew 6:25-27 encourages…“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
He is Powerful!
Jeremiah 10:12 affirms…But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.
He is Pure!
Psalm 12:6 promises…And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
Because we know who God is, we can trust Him, follow Him, and build our lives on what He says. To God Be The Glory, for a clear understanding of who He is through the attributes we discover in the Bible and in the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

2024 Homecoming / Rally Day Summary
This morning we were blessed to observe our annual Homecoming Rally Day! It was a time of joyous celebration, heartfelt reunions, and spiritual renewal.
The Deacons began the service with a soul stirring rendition of “What A Friend We Have In Jesus!” and prayer.
It was then time for the Call to Worship led by Rev. Wendell Emerson who shared the scripture reading from Luke 15: 1-7 followed by the morning prayer.
Immediately following, the choir transitioned into “Take Me To The Water” as heaven rejoiced when six year old Emerson Jackson received the first ordinance of the Baptist Church, Baptism, marking a crirical step in her Christian journey! Her maternal grandfather, Rev. Wendell Emerson, baptized her accompanied by her paternal grandfather, Deacon Jarold Jackson. It was a spirited occasion as little Emerson was also surrounded by her immediate family, church family and friends. The heartfelt celebration of one added to the kingdom garnered a palpable sense of reverence and gratitude for the legacy of faith that continues to be passed down through the years.
Sis. Patricia Hayden shared the announcements, welcoming all who returned home for Homecoming/Rally Day! She encouraged and challenged all to show hospitality to strangers “for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
Sis. Sabrynn Wright, (also on behalf of Bro. Takiyah Jones and Sis. Linda Gates) extended an invitation to all young adults to attend a special “Meet & Greet” event to be held downtown at Davis Park on Saturday September 7th from 11am -1pm. The event is being organized in the hope of getting more young adults from surrounding churches to gather together and “get back into the church”.
Rev. Emerson asked for special prayer and outreach for Sis. Shelby Boyd, one of our youth, on the passing of her grandfather.
Sis. Diana Mabson Barnes and the choir blessed us in song with “My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less,” their powerful rendition of “(This Means) War!,” “Just Come,” and “Lord I Lift Your Name On High.”
Rev. Emerson brought the morning message, “It’s A Cerebration!” from Luke 15:8-10. He excitedly shared how Jesus said, “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Rev. Emerson passionately shared the Plan of Salvation and emphasized how Jesus came for the lost, and the lost should be celebrated once found. He strongly reiterated that there is only one way to God! “Jesus said I am the way, I am the truth, I am the life. No one comes to the father except through me.” Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! He reminded us of how God’s angels got excited because they heard someone confess Christ publicly, and we as Christians, should too!
Sis. Anna Tatman thanked the church for their thoughts and continued prayers throughout her illness. Sis. Diana Mabson Barnes (and China) asked for prayer for her brother who is very ill. Rev. Emerson led the congregation in prayer for them, for the church body, and for all who are returning to school.
To God Be The Glory for Homecoming Rally Days! They serve as a beacon, drawing together current and former members, and even those from throughout the community who have a special connection to the church. This Homecoming/Rally Day service is a testament to the enduring bonds of faith, fellowship, and heritage that are woven into the fabric of Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church!

EDUCATION MINISTRY
NOTEBOOK
|
|
|
|
|
There are 9 minutes during the day that have the greatest impact on a child:
- The first 3 minutes right after they wake up
- The 3 minutes after they come home from school.
The last 3 minutes of the day before they go to bed.
Make those minutes special and help our children feel special, loved, and accepted.
~ Each day children need meaningful eye-to-eye conversations with a parent. It is especially important to slow down and look them in the eye.
Listen and respond with love.
~ Hug your child, straighten her hair, pat him on the back and tell them how proud you are of him every day. A simple touch makes them feel connected to a parent in ways that words never will.
Remember, actions speak louder than words!

Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both Men and Women
Here are a few tips to help keep your Heart Healthy
1. Eat well: A heart healthy diet can help improve blood pressure, as well as lowering cholesterol levels and decreasing the risk of type 2 diabetes. This includes eating more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, fish, and low fat or fat free dairy foods. Also limit salt, sugar, highly refined carbs, alcohol and highly processed foods. 2. Exercise: Try to get 30 minutes of exercise in several times per week. Stay active. 3. Maintain and watch your weight. Being over weight or obese increases your risk for heart disease. 4: Monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Make and keep annual doctor’s visits. 5: Do not smoke. Avoid second hand smoke as well. 6: Manage stress. 7: Get enough sleep. Adults should aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
The heart is an amazing muscle and out of it flows “LIFE”

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
