New Member Registration Day

A huge thank you Memberships Coordinator Jane McCrea and to all of our volunteers from Secret Harbour SLSC who gave up their Sunday to run our club registration day.

It was a great turnout with a large number of new members registered on the day. We couldn’t have done it without your help and support!

If you missed our Club Registration Day, there is still time to register - please contact the office or visit our website for more information on becoming a member.

Generous donation keeps our IRBs running smoothly

Thank you very much to John Turner who on behalf of Castrol, provides the club with an ongoing donation of motor oil for our Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRBs). This valuable donation supplies enough oil to maintain the IRBs for the whole season and is greatly appreciated.

John has been quietly making this contribution to the club for many years, but now that the word is out, he can expect to receive a whole lot of high-fives around the club.

Getting Rescue Ready

Gear Inspection

Thank you to Garry Williams, Digby Wilson and Mark Turley for completing their areas of the audit and ensuring the club's lifesaving gear is in good condition for the season.

First Aid Equipment Inspection

Thank you to Jo Thodis, Lorry Rule, Carolyn Wilson and Nina Staniford for checking and restocking all of our First aid equipment ready for the season.  It's a big job and very time consuming - thank you all for your efforts.

Thank you to Sam Lowe for completing the patrol uniform stock check and order for the upcoming season.

Our first day of beach patrols at Secret Harbour is Sunday 18th of October, so it’s time to sign up for your roster for the 2020/21 season. The roster can be found on the patrolling members page on our website or you can click here. Just enter your name on your preferred dates and the spreadsheet will autosave your entry.

We are still short on Patrol & Vice Captains, so if anyone is interested in taking on these important roles, please contact Sam Lowe.

Our Director of Lifesaving, Stuart Reeves has the following update for members:

Firstly the new ATV is rescue ready for the season.  Also, we are planning to get drone patrols up and running at Secret Harbour this season. We have not had this capability for a couple of years, but Joe Ford is working on a plan to reintroduce these patrols and is working with SLSWA to commence training of new and experienced operators. We are looking at taking the proven approach used for watercraft training at SHSLSC to first ensure our own club is highly capable, and then extend the offer of training and cooperation to the other clubs in the Peel region.

Joe will have more detail on this in the coming months. This is an opportunity for a wider range of club members to be involved in patrol and water safety duties on the beach.
