January kicked off not only the new year but a brand new study abroad program – Honors College in Greece. As the month progressed, Harding University in Greece (HUG) became our first semester-long program to launch in January with more to follow in February. We also took time this month to honor staff at HUG and HUF for their years of service. Please continue reading to learn more!
Honors College in Greece
We recently partnered with the Honors College to launch a brand new study abroad program that took honors students to Greece for 10 days during the winter break. During this trip, the group toured Athens, Corinth and a few other nearby sites while studying human migration in the ancient Near East. Spending 10 days in Greece is not a bad way to ring in the new year!

HUG departed the US on January 11 and only spent a week and a half in Greece before departing on its first big trip of the semester – a week in Israel. While in Israel, the group toured Jerusalem and other significant biblical cities, spent time in the Garden of Gethsemane, took a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, floated in the Dead Sea, and so much more. The group is now back in Greece and will spend more time touring Greece before leaving the country again in a few weeks for a week-long trip to Egypt!
Honoring Years of Service
Earlier this month, staff at HUG and HUF were honored with pins for their years of service. Below is a photo from a HUG staff lunch where (seated from left to right) Mietek Kuzniarski, Vicky Tsakou and Yianna Soulioti all received their 20-year service pins. Vassilios Tsirbas (center of the second photo) also received his 20-year service pin for his work with HUG.
Not pictured, Silvia Barbieri of HUF also received her 25-year service pin. Please join us in thanking and honoring these outstanding co-workers for their years of service to Harding and International Programs!
