Illinois Swimming Membership,

There has been a lot to celebrate these past couple months!

First, A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ATHLETES!

They recently received the honor of runner up for MOST OUTSTANDING LSC! Out of 59 LSCs (Local Swim Committees) in USA Swimming, this was a huge accomplishment and testament of their efforts to increase athlete engagement!

Also this past winter, after years of evaluating our Championship Meet Structures and determining the best course of action for our LSC, we saw single age time standards and the first ever 10&U Championships, which allowed us to bring in over 1500 more athletes to our already FAST Championship series! It was deemed a huge success and we will continue to evaluate how these changes will help us reach our goals as a whole organization.

A huge thank you goes out to all the people who worked behind the scenes to make this happen! And congratulations to all our athletes on their amazing accomplishments this past winter!

We wish everyone good luck this long course season!

Women & Girls Clinic

Illinois Swimming hosted a jam packed weekend 2 weeks ago featuring home-grown Illinois Olympian, Olivia Smoliga and her In Depth Swim Academy.

Saturday morning kicked off the Women & Girls Clinic, a first of it's kind event in Illinois Swimming, bringing together 40 of our female athletes for this incredible experience focusing on empowering the self through yoga, journaling and in-water mindfulness.

The Women's Clinic also featured Rachel Stratton-Mills, NU Head Coach and Amy Oliphant, Transcend Mental Training with over 30 women coaches in attendance!

Senior Quad Long Course Challenge

We were able to bring together the Boys and Girls Senior Quad Challenge participants for a combined long course meet! Athletes first heard from Olivia Smoliga on her journey and visualized their races before competing for the win!

Congratulations to TEAM FLATLANDERS on their redemption win!

Team Flatlanders, be on the lookout for the coveted Gold Illinois Swimming Cap, coming your way for your win.

Age Group Select Camp

60 12&U Medalists were welcomed into this camp held at Stevenson High School on Sunday April 13th.

As with all of our camps, the focus was on relationship building with their peers in Illinois Swimming, fostering the excitement of the sport and their potential as an athlete.

Athletes at this camp experienced both dryland and in-water training from Olivia as well as visualization and goal setting.

Parents were also given the opportunity to hear from Olivia as she spoke about her journey, the challenges and knowledge gained along the way.

A NEW OFFERING: Similar to Junior Coaches, there is the opportunity to become a Junior Official. The Junior Stroke & Turn Official certification is only available to 16 and 17 year olds.
