A word from our Principal, Claire

The term is now under way and our newest recruits have begun their Quest journey.

Lots of hard work will be taking place over the coming months as our trainers guide students through the different subject areas of their programme and they begin to learn more about employability skills such as self-management, team working, business and customer awareness, problem solving, communication and the application of numeracy and IT.

Our Careers Advisors will be giving intensive interview practice to those on the Graduate Training programme as well as facilitating a recruitment fair on site at Quest for these students next month.

My team and I are looking forward to meeting parents and fee-payers of the PD, PA and BA students at our evening events towards the end of the month, which will give those attending an opportunity to find out more about Quest and discuss individual student progress. If you are coming I look forward to seeing you then!

The door is always open!

By now we hope that all of our students have settled in and are enjoying the first month of lessons. Please know that the Quest team are always here to help you with anything you need.

To direct you to the correct person and to tell you a bit more about our trainers' careers, find the brief outline below. For our alumni, try and spot the new faces.

Samantha Dobson

In November, Sam will have been part of the Quest family for 13 years! She teaches Shorthand and Office Skills to the students and decided to go into teaching (by a stroke of luck and) because she loves working with people.

Kate Blackshaw

Kate has been affiliated to the company for over twenty years. Her background in performing arts, particularly as a voice-over artist and actor, form the basis of the programmes she now teaches at Quest, which include: Presentation Skills, Working In & Leading a team and Developing Yourself & Others.

Bassam El-Homsi

One of the longest-serving trainers, Bassam has been part of the Quest Family since the 3 colleges merged in 2007. He delivers lessons on IT Training and his most memorable teaching moment was when one of his current students mentioned that her Aunt had been his pupil years before and she loved his classes!

He enjoys converting students’ opinions of IT and helping them to progress from disinterest and uncertainty to becoming passionate and confident IT program users.

Dominique Kolimechkov

Since graduating from Queen's University, Belfast, Dom has built up a variety of industry experience, which includes working in the Financial Markets.

Taking her personal experience and keeping on top of continual changes within these industry areas has led her to become knowledgeable in a number of subject areas. She teaches lessons on Economics & Business Finance, Current Affairs and Event & Project Management.

Emma Samengo-Turner

Emma has always worked in the fashion industry, starting off in Harpers Bazaar and then moving onto Polo Ralph Lauren. Since then, she has become an image consultant working with private clients and also for us at Quest.

She enjoys giving confidence to the students by guiding them towards an individual business style and helping with any image concerns.

Jane Fallon

After a successful career (20+ years) in marketing and operations for a range of UK and international organisations, Jane decided to move into the world of training and education. She now leads a programme (accredited by the ILM) that instils teamwork, critical thinking, analysis, and communication and presentation skills and builds confidence in the student’s own ability to pitch new ideas to a panel of experts at the end of the programme.

Sheridan Mangal

Since an early age, two industries always fascinated him; Finance and Law. After 35 years in Financial Markets he then completed his Law degree. This experience has enabled him to convey useful knowledge to ambitious Quest students!

He introduces students to the dynamics of Financial Trading, Commercial Enterprise and the rigours of Business Planning.

Mark Dunne

Mark has been a teacher of Business and Accounting for many years, teaching in schools and colleges across the UK and at a university in Thailand for five years. His education includes a Degree in Business and a Masters in Education.

He has worked in banking, estate agencies and the mortgage sectors as well as running his own business in the U.K.

Genevieve Muwana

Genevieve started her career in luxury for the Louis Vuitton group in France as an Executive Assistant. Since moving to London, she has worked in Fashion and Beauty before starting her own entrepreneurial journey as a Certified Style and Mindset Coach, making her passionate about self development!

In the past, she has led workshops and training around Branding, Personal Branding, Interview Techniques,Confidence and Resilience.

Colin Ovenden

Some 15 years ago, after a successful career in Sales, Marketing and Senior Management within the Telecoms and Consultancy industries, both in the UK and overseas, Colin moved into the world of Learning and Development.

At Quest Professional his focus is Business Acumen, instilling our students with an understanding of how business works, how to communicate effectively and how to promote ideas and concepts professionally.

Watch this space next month for an introduction to our Careers Team!

Activities this month

Public Relations

The PD, BA and PA students were introduced to everything PR has to offer in a series of workshops designed specifically for them by Public Relations experts Livewire. As part of their learning, they were asked to write a press release which they could submit to Livewire for comments.

Web Design

This month we had Matt Marriott come to meet our BA students. He taught them useful skills involved in graphic design before asking them to come up with a concept for an online dating website, which they later presented to a client.

Lloyds of London

On the 30th October the BA and PA students had the chance to go on a trip to visit the famous Lloyd's of London building. The day was spent gaining a deeper understanding of the insurance industry in the hub for traders and brokers.

Further trips are planned for the other groups and we hope they will enjoy it just as much!

Action for A-T

Fundraising and charity work is very important to us at Quest Professional, that is why we encourage our students to get involved in the community and host different events for charity.

This month, Sean Kelly from Action for A-T - our charity partner - came to meet the students for the first time. They will all be partaking in fundraising events later this year.
