At the Walk for Mental Health in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, the crowd was formally welcomed by MHFA Director, Kirilly Dutton. The MHFA were honoured to again have Councillor Vicki Howard, Civic Cabinet Chair for Community, Arts and Night-time Economy, and Councillor for Central, representing the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, deliver a warm opening address. Then the walkers had a gentle yoga-style warmup compliments of Mellow & Thriving from West End, before setting off to do their desired number of laps of the gardens. A big thank you to Walk sponsor Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, and to FICQ (Federation of Indian Communities of Qld) for partnering with MHFA and bringing an enthusiastic contingent of walkers.
On the sunny Gold Coast, earlier in the day, there were 2 more walks – the first a Beach Walk for Mental Health starting at the iconic Surfers Paradise sign, and then one in Broadwater Parklands hosted by GOPIO Gold Coast.
